I am back!!

9:55 AM, 2008-May-12 .. 0 comments .. Link

I have been away from the blog for a while.  First I had to work 4 days straight and then I went to Louisiana to visit my parents.  I also got my hair permed while I was there.  I love it!  I will maybe post so photo's later.

Things here are moving along.  I can't believe it is already the middle of May!!! Where has the year gone?  I only have three and a half months left to lose the last 20 pounds to reach my goal before my 20th anniversary!  Better get moving.  I lost the first 20 pretty easily, but the weight loss stopped.  I suppose I have settled into a routine and need to shake it up.  I need to add exercise!!!

Mother's day was a good one.  Andrew and the kids woke me up with cards and gifts.  We all went to church together and then we came home and cooked out.  I did the cooking because Andrew was busy cleaning up the garage that got flooded again in Saturday's storm.  This is like the 5th time or so that the garage has flooded!! Fortunately we learned after the first time and we don't have anything that would be damaged on the floor!  I also got my yearly Mother's day massage from Andrew.  That was enjoyable!

Noah is having problems with his allergies. It has gone into his chest and he is coughing and gagging up mucus.  I have an appointment with his Dr tomorrow morning.  I have been giving him Claritin, but it doesn't seem to be working.  So maybe she can give him something better to fight it.

I did some planting a couple of weeks ago.  We have a small yard, and since we are renting now, the landlord is...lets just say...picky about his yard.  He has a landscaping business and is particular about the grass and yard area.  So I planted in 5 gallon buckets.  Below is a list of some of the things I planted.

  1. Roma tomatoes
  2. Big boy tomatoes
  3. Cherry reds
  4. Crooked neck and straight neck yellow squash
  5. Egg plants
  6. red bell, green bell and a mix of bell peppers
  7. cayenne, and sweet banana peppers
  8. green beans
  9. cucumbers

I took an already existing bed that had nothing in it and planted strawberries, and another bed I planted herbs.  So far everything looks good.  I have placed the pots around in sunny locations in my back yard.  I just hope for the money I spent on the plants and soil that I get a good harvest.  I noticed that my egg plant had some holes in the leaves.  I suppose so little critter is getting to them.  I didn't see any bugs at the time, but I am going to try a solution of dawn detergent in a spray bottle with water.  I used that on my garden in the past and it seemed to help.  Any other suggestions would be helpful...

Well, house work is calling.  Loads of laundry need to be done...so I will get up and get started before the day gets by.

Have a great week!
