A Growing Experiment...

Some time back, a friend of my mom's told her that she grew all of her green onions in her window.  She originally bought some and cut the bottoms with the roots off and put them down in water and grows her own from them.  So I thought I would try it myself.  I grew a bunch a used them but then roots started getting slimy and I suppose I didn't tend them, and I threw them out.  So the other day when cutting some green onions for supper, I decided to grow more again.

This is a photo of what has grown in just three days.  I cut them off at the very light green/white area.  I have them in a water bottle I cut off. I keep a little water in the bottom of the bottle and put into a basket that sits on my kitchen window sill.  I am amazed that they grow so fast. I suppose I am easily amused! It is a neat experiment anyway.
