Sunshine and critters

It is a beautiful day today.  The sun is shining and the wind is blowing a slight cool breeze.  There are bees and wasp and other creatures out.  Sunday we killed our first snake of the year.  I think it was a ground rattler.  But I am not sure.  We were on the way to the car for church and I saw it trying to get into the garage.  So we killed it and tossed it aside and I went yesterday to look at it, and it was gone.  I suppose a dog drug it off somewhere. 

I started cleaning out the raised bed in the front yard to plant herbs in.  It is a job.  It hasn't been used for years apparently.  I wore myself out, and still have about 1/3 of it left to dig out.  Then I need to add some good dirt to it and get ready to plant. 

We moved the pigs out of the garden spot into an new area.  Hopefully this weekend we can get the garden area tilled up and ready to plant.  I feel like we are already behind.  But I don't see others planting around here yet.  Since this is my first year in this area, I don't know really when to start planting.  But I suppose that we aren't too late. 

Honey is buying a lawn tractor for the yard.  We really need it now.  The grass is already getting high.

Well not much to report from the farm.  Zoe and Chloe are growing.  They are back in the goat yard with the others, and doing well with them.  Maisy is a good mother and sees to them really well.  She is very protective of them with the other goats. 

The chickens are growing fast.  I can't believe they almost look fully grown. 

Well it is lunch time and the kiddo's are hungry, so gotta go.

How is the garden going ? It's going to be in the 20's overnight the next few nights....hopefully it will be our last cold spell..and we can get all these seedlings in the ground soon......altho I've seen it snow here in June....so we'll wait n see ;)
