Pi Day Party

Well Pi Day came and went on Friday and we had so many plans for the day.  Would you believe they called me to come to work on Friday.  So Thursday I rushed around all day trying to prepare for our Pi Day party. 

When Friday came, we planned the party for the evening when everyone got home from work.  Of course we were all exhausted from the work day.  But the party went on.

We had three pies; Chocolate, Lemon, and a square cheesecake pie.  Cause you know--Pi r square! LOL!

We made a Pi chart and measured the circumference and diameter of several round items.

We made a Pi necklace. 

We made tee-shirts.  Megan created a design on the computer and we printed it onto transfer paper and ironed them onto tees.  They look great!  That was fun!  I wore mine to work that day. 

We had a contest to see who could memorize the most digits of pi.  Andrew won hands down.  But Megan did well with about 12 numbers memorized.  I could only do about 6!  I had a rough day at work with little sleep the night before, thanks to Noah and a storm.

In all the rush, and our tiredness, we forgot to read the book, Sir Cumference and the Dragon of Pi.  So we had to do that later.

Megan was pretty tired also.  She got up early and she and my mom had a yard sale all day.  Megan made over $70.00 herself!  She was very happy about that.  Now she can go shopping.  She is quite the sales girl.  She loves having yard sales.  She gets so excited about it and is very driven.  She never wants to close the yard sale down, thinking maybe someone else will come by.  We usually have to insist that she end for the day. So everyone had worked hard Friday and although we enjoyed the party, we were very tired.

We ate Pizza Pie for supper and Pie for dessert.  What did we learned about pi?  Pi is irrational, its digits are infinate, it can be fun and it can also be YUMMY!!!LOL!

All in all, our 1st annual Pi day celebration went well.  But in all the rush, I forgot to take photos!  I was so upset with myself!  Oh well there is always next year, and hey, we have these great tee-shirts to wear around to remember the day by.
