Laundry...Laundry...Laundry...

Laundry!  There is always laundry to do.   No matter how much I do, I can never catch up!  It is frustrating!  I always have piles of laundry, either clean and ready to fold and put away, or dirty in need of washing.  But always laundry.  It is upsetting sometimes that I can't ever catch up with it.  I suppose if I had a whole day just to devote to laundry, maybe for that one day I would catch up.  But that is why it is so frustrating to me, you never get caught up and can rest a few days.  Because it is always there waiting on you!

Well, the farm is expanding.  We now have two more goats.  We bought a Boer nanny and a Pygmy nanny.  Megan wanted something besides Boers, so she wanted the little Pygmy goat.  Since my last blog, one of the pigs died.  I am not sure why or what happened I found it lying in the grass dying.  It was the runt and could have gotten to cold and got pneumonia.  I hate to lose an animal.  The chickens are growing so fast.  And Maize is still pregnant!!! Very pregnant.  She doesn't look like she could go another day, but somehow she does.  I am so excited about her kidding.  I can't wait to see the little ones.

The seedling that we planted in the starter are popping up all over.  I will need to transfer them soon.  I hope this cold spell that we are having now, will be the last of this winter.  I am so ready for Spring.  I can't wait to get outside without the burden of heavy winter clothing. Yesterday was the first official day of Spring, but the weather is aweful.  It is raining and cold and nasty.  The yard is so wet and soggy.  I know this summer we will need every bit of this water we are getting now, but right now, sunshine would be so nice.

Noah is growing so big.  He is jabbering, saying "da da", "ba ba", and something that sounds like "ma ma".  He now has two little teeth on the bottom.  And he is fussy to prove it!  He has been so fussy and clengy the last few days.  I can't seem to get anything done.  I do good to get a shower in the morning and get school work done.  My house needs a good cleaning and of course the laundry needs to be done.  But he may be the last baby I have, so I am not going to complain to much and just enjoy having a baby in my arms, even if he is fussy.

Sadie is growing also.  I have to make an appointment at the vet to continue her shots and get something to help with the fleas.  She has scratched sores on herself because of them.  This time next year, prehaps we will have babies on the way to sell.

Megan is doing well in her school.  She is much happier homeschooling than she was going to school.  I can't believe the difference it has made for her.  We are really enjoying the freedom that it offers as far as learning.  I have always been sold on homeschooling, but after trying the "traditional" method, I realize that my ideas about the educational process is so much different from that of the "traditional" school.  She went to public school in Kindergarten.  Then I took her out and homeschooled from 1st through 4th.  Then the first of this year, 5th grade, I sent her to our church school.  But it was so time consuming.  I had to drive 35 minutes one way to get her there and then back that afternoon.  She would school from 8:30 to 3:30 and then come home with homework in the evening.  I just don't believe it takes all of that to educate a child.  They should be a child and enjoy themselves also.  They should have time to pursue things that they enjoy, like drawing, playing, painting, spending time with pet, and other hobbies they enjoy.  So many things can be used to educate, not just books and paperwork.  I know there must be some of that also, but it doesn't take seven hours every day of it.  We do other things to educate also.  That is where "traditional" education fails, they try to fit everyone into the same mode.  They don't address the various learning styles that we all have.  I am just so thankful that God has allowed me the opportunity to stay home and educate my children.  Lauren is going to try to complete high school by December this year.  She plans to attend college, but is still trying to decide what to do.  Her father and I would like for her to go into something in the medical field.  She has talked about a nurse anesthistis.  And she is considering it.  She thinks that she would really like to have a Wedding Consultant business, but we are insisting that she go to college and get a degree in something that she can be sure to get a good job.  Then if she decides not to use it and do something else, that is fine, but at least she will have the degree and the option to work in that field.  We all know how difficult it is to go back and do it later.  It is possible, it has been done, but it is harder when you have a family to sacrafice then and go back and get it.  I told her it is better to sacrafice now and then later she can do what she wants to do.  She is wanting to take a trip to the Holy Land with our church this fall, so she is trying to find a job to make the money that it will take to go.  We are praying about letting her go.  I know it would be a wonderful experience for her, but I am still worried about the conditions of the world.  But I know that God is in control and if that is so, then His will will be done, no matter where she is.  He can keep her there just as easy as He can keep her here.  So the question is:  Either I believe He is in control or I don't!  And I choose to believe that He is in control!

Well, let me get back to school and to the fussy baby.  My few minutes of "free time" is over.

Oh by the way, the book I blogged about the last time was called, "From the Ground Up: The Story of a First Garden" by Amy Stewart.  I have attached a link to Amazon.  You can purchase a used one for as little as $0.87!  I just did!  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1565122402/sr=8-1/qid=1142970510/ref=sr_1_1/104-8057686-0828764?%5Fencoding=UTF8

Boy do I understand the laundry monster, I have the same monster herewe do about 20 loads a week and are still behind, lol. It is hard to decide about college , what you want to do , find a school close and one that cost less. One of my daughters is in the 10th grade ( homeschooled) she is doing extra classes so she can knock off a few year of college. She wants to be a equine vet , so does her baby sister 8th grade (also home schooled). Good luck with the laundry and college, mj
