Sugar Bend Farm

Long time, no blog...

Wow it has been over a month since I blogged.  Things have been busy around the farm.  We have added a new kid; a girl boer goat like Lucy, we named her Ethel.  Wow, did I blog about Lucy?  I can't remember, well anyway, we now have two adult goats, two kids and one of the nannies is due to deliver any time now.  We also have added five chickens and three pigs.  We have put up new fencing and still have more to put up.  We are also in the process of getting ready for the garden.  We have picked the spot to put the garden and are preparing to start digging the ground up.  I also have been working on a compost pile for several months now.

I am excited about planning the garden and what we are going to plant.  I know we will definately plant tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, okra, greens, pole beans and some type of peas.  I am still working on the other things.  I also am planning an herb bed.  I would also love to have a cutting flower garden.  But this being the first year here, I am not going to over plan and then be disappointed.  I am going to learn from this year and carry that knowledge into the years to come.  God's will we plan to stay here for many years to come.  So with each year I plan to add more to my garden and to the yard area.  I am looking forward to the learning process.  It has been many years since I have actually had a garden.  I am so excited about it.  I just finished reading a great little book, although I have forgotten the name of it and I don't have it upstairs with me right now, I will look tomorrow and add the name.  I highly recommend it.  It is like a gardening journal written by a lady in California.  It was a great little book that inspired me so much.  It made me want to start digging right then.

Well, it is almost 10:00 and I am trying to get to bed earlier so I can get up earlier.  So I will go for now.

Oh I forgot to mention  Megan's new puppy.  It is a girl Shih Tzu named Sadie.  We plan to breed her with Beaux, Lauren's Shih Tzu and have little ones to sell.  She is such a doll.  White and black and fluffy.  She is now eight weeks old.

Nice loking site ! Love the pic's and colors you chose !
Story was nice. If you do a little of gardening in each category you will be satisfied along the way. Plant here and there and start seeing things come alive. If you do one plot site at a time you will see but that spot come alive till you move to the next. So what would you choose? Me here and there !

God Bless
