Raining again

Today has been a rainy day.  Makes me want to stay inside.  The goats, Daisy and Maisy, are sticking their heads out of the shelter looking around.  But won't come out unless we go out with food or hay.  Maisy is getting bigger by the day, but no sign yet on Daisy that she is expecting.  I hope she is.  But she is younger than Maisy and not as far along so maybe she just isn't showing yet.

I called the man that owns the land behind us today.   I was going to ask him about buying the strip of land behind us between us and the pond that he owns.  I really need to add that to my land so I can support more animals.  But I got his answering service.  I hate having to do business on the phone like that.  I would prefer to talk to the person face to face.  I just get nervous when I can't see the person.  I guess I read cues from their actions when I am face to face that helps me determine how to handle the situation.  But on the phone I can't see the body language so I am unsure as how to continue with the conversation.  I am not a big talker anyway, and I hate confrontation. Anyway, I left a message on his machine to call me back.  Hopefully he will call back when my husband is here and they can discuss it.  My husband wanted me to call and ask him, he thought he would be more receptive to me asking than him asking.  But I don't know about that.  I use to be so independent and self sufficient, but in the last few years I have become so dependent on my husband to take care of business.  I would rather leave all of that to him.  I know I don't need to be that way, but I guess that comes from being a SAHM.  I don't have to deal with people in the work force and I forgot how to deal with people in that way.  I need to work on that.
Well I got a book on making cheese yesterday.  I am looking forward to being able to start making cheese.  I will keep you updated on how it goes.  Also, my husband and I are looking into getting some Boer goats.  We called on some the other day. But we still have to finish fencing the pasture first.  Also if we get that land behind us, we will need to get it fenced.  I am praying that it will work out.
Well, gotta run and finish school for the day.  We got a late start and I have had a headache all day, so we having gotten finished yet.  I also need to get groceries, but I don't want to go today.  I will try to find something to put together for supper so I won't have to go today.  I just despise going shopping lately.  I need to put together some menu's for meals.  I have heard that that is better and saves money, but I am just not good at planning like that. I usually go according to my feelings for the day.  Cook what I feel.  But I know that isn't a good way to do things.  I also need to make out menu's so I can make a list when shopping to save money.  I usually fall prey to the impluse buying thing, especially if the kids are with me.  My oldest daughter is now fully licenesed now, so maybe I will send her to do my grocery shopping.  That way, she will pick up only what I have on the list!! I think I have a plan now!! I suppose there is some good to having a daughter old enough to drive.

I will check back in  a day or two.  I have books to read.  I also got the book "Square Foot Gardening" by Mel Bartholomew.  Has anyone read it?  Do you practice it?  Let me know how you feel about it, what your thoughts are on the idea.  Sounds like a good thing in theory, but if anyone out there knows about the practice of square foot gardening, I would love to hear your thoughts on it.

I love the Square Foot Gardening book, I utilised different parts of it but this year I plan to do my entire garden area in this manner since I need all the space I can get!
