Sugar Bend Farm

Rainy day

Well today is a rainy day at 56 degrees right now.  It seems much colder since it is rainy.  But we all need rain sometimes.  Some days I don't mind the rain, in fact a lot of days I enjoy a nice slow steady rain.  But today, I had to go to the dr and tonight is church, so on days like this, I don't enjoy fighting traffic, and having to get out in this wet weather.  I went to the dr to see about having my nose fixed.  I have a deviated septum.  And it is getting worse with age, causing breathing problems and other difficulties.  So I finally broke down and went.  I have been talking about doing it for years, but never did.  So I went today.  However, I have to go to another dr, because he gave me two options, and one he can't do, the other dr can.  So I go to him on Monday and hopefully he will have better news for me.  I just thought it would be a simple surgery; break my nose, reset it and we are done.  But the cartilege has gone to the side and caused a turn on the end of the nose and he says that it isn't so simple to correct.  So hence the other dr.  I am hoping he will say that he can correct it, because it has gotten worse as I have gotten older and will continue to get worse I am sure as I continue to age.  Anyway, I don't like going to dr's at all, but I also need to go to a GP to have a checkup and I need to go have a mammogram done.  I also need to go to the dentist, but that is a whole other thing, don't get me started on my "fear" of dentist!
Well, life on Sugar Bend Farm is kinda slow going right now.  We are getting things ready for winter and we are kinda at a stand still in our animals.  We are getting rid of a few goats and our chickens have slowed egg production.  We didn't plant a fall garden this year, so there isn't a harvest.  I did harvest my gourds the other day and I am very pleased with the amount and quality of the harvest.  I have placed a photo of them on my flickr badge on the sidebar.  I am thinking of taking them to town to try and sell.  Has anyone else ever sold gourds before?  I don't know what price they should go for.  If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

Well, time to get ready for church.  My parents are here visiting and they are keeping Noah at home tonight so I can go and enjoy the service without having to get up and go out, like I frequently do with Noah.  He hasn't learned yet to sit QUIETLY.  Of course he is only 13 1/2 months old, so what can you expect of him?  We have lively worship at our church and he doesn't understand that sometimes you have to be quiet and listen to the preaching.  Anyway, Andrew is working late again and won't make it to church, which happens a lot on Wednesday's.  For some reason the company he works with decided to hold their weekly meetings on Wednesday evenings!  Go figure.  So it will just be the girls and I going tonight.

I have been reading some interesting books lately.  I will blog about those maybe tomorrow.  Time is too short tonight.
