The symphony of sound

I love music.  Not just any music, but soothing, relaxing music.  Don't get me wrong, I enjoy lively, upbeat music, and I like songs with lyrics that have something to say.  But in general, for most of my day, I enjoy music, just the sound of instruments playing a soothing sound.  I especially like saxaphone music and trumphet music.  I also really enjoy acustic guitar, piano and dulcimer music.  But the best music of all is provided by nature.  So often I am so busy and there is so much "noise" going on around me that I neglect to hear the special music that God provides for us.  The last few days have brought cooler temperatures and I have opened my windows to let the outside in.  And there it is, the wonderful, inviting sounds of nature.  This morning, after showering, I stood by the open window in my upstairs bedroom and just listened.  We get so busy with life and the noise of life that we miss out on a wonderful symphony.  I listen to the distant sounds of cows in a neighbors pasture, mooing at feeding time.  I heard the sound of roosters crowing;  mine and then the neighbors rooster answering the crow of our rooster.  Then the sound of birds singing on the electric wires that run from my house to the road.  There they were, lined up, singing the last songs of summer.  Then the sound of the wind, blowing through the trees.  The rustling of the leaves on the branches as they try to hold on before falling to the ground.  All of these sound were wonderful, sounds that I forget to stop and listen to.  An occasional car on a distant road or one passing on by my house would intrupt the sounds of nature, adding their own sound to the mix.  It was just for a few fleeting moments, then the sounds of the house begin to pick up and drown out the outside sounds.  The dog was barking to be taken out, Noah begin to cry for a nap, the girls going up and down the stairs, calling for me. My daughters music, banging out a beat from the speakers in her room.  All of these are the sounds of the symphony of our daily routines of our lives, turning up the volume that is slightly louder than the sounds from the outside.
