Saturday, August 16, 2008 - Goat Questions

We live where we can't keep a cow, but can have goats.  So, I have some goat questions.  I know that with a Jersey cow one can milk her once a day and then leave  her calf on her so that you don't have to milk her in the evening or when you need to get away.  Can that be done with goats?  I know it may not be common, but can it be done?  Also, how often do I absolutely have to get them checked for TB?  What other things do I have to know before I consider a goat?  I'm just looking for basics here.  If I make it past that point, I'll look for more details and specifics.

Happy Trails!

With 2 of my goats I only milked them once a day. Some people said that it is bad, but it worked for us and we never had any problems. I wish I had more info for you. God Bless, mj
