Here's a picture of my favorite chicken.
She gave me an egg almost every day last year! I was sad when she
started moulting! All those beautiful feathers... 
And here is something about sourdough (sorry, I can't help it!  ):
I tried the bread again and it turned out much better. Personally, I
like my sourdough bread to be a little more sour than this bread turned
out, but my family likes it!

We are hoping to get some dual purpose chickens this spring. Save some of the hens for laying, a couple roosters for mating, and the other roosters for eating. I think 50 would be a good enough number, but DH thinks 100. How many do you have, and what ratio do you think is good? I have 5 children who love to eat both eggs and chicken. I made chicken from the grocery today, cutting off all of the fat and junk from skinless/boneless chicken! Got me thinking maybe it won't be so bad to help with the butchering. I keep telling DH that isn't for me, but I may change over. So tell me what you know about chickens....
