Christmas Candy Christmas Candy!Do you make it? I LOVE to make Christmas Candy, I give it also, so I normally make quite a bit. This year it might be a bit smaller than usual, but I still plan on making some with my family today! :) Above is peppermint bark. Last year they had these soft chunks of peppermint at the grocery. It made my bark YUM-O! I hope I can find some again. I plan on making some chess bars, some Norma Cookies, peppermint bark and ??? I don't know what else. Probably whatever I have I can put together in my cabinets. :) So how about you? What kinds do you make? My Cup Runneth Over...

On the first day of Christmas break... Christmas mail... weeeeee!!! :) Look at the excitement on their faces when they received mail from our Burrell Mailbox. And this one is so blurry, but I just loved her expression. Such glee over something so simple, I love it.So on the first day of Christmas break, what are we going to do? We are going to begin reading out of a new series, The Cooper Kids by Frank Peretti. We are going to watch Horton hears a Who, thanks to my cousin who loaned it to us. We are going to play a game of Sorry... Fold some clothes. :) And, who knows what else... I am excited for this time of break... what are you doing on your Christmas break? Have a wonderful day, my friends. My Cup Runneth Over...

Christmas Traditions Welcome to Friday dear ones... I hope your week has been wonderful. Christmas Traditions... do you have any? Do your kids make a big pallet in the floor on Christmas eve? Do you get up and open presents or do you have a big breakfast first? Do you open one gift at a time or does it go off like fireworks and is over just as quickly? When you get together with family, do you play games? Watch movies? Nap? On Christmas morning I usually have some type of breakfast casserole made so that I don't really have to 'cook'. It is something I can put in the oven and whenever we are ready it is ready basically. We always read the Christmas story in the Bible and we enjoy that very much. Only one present at a time, things would be over too quickly if we let everyone open at once. Christmas music is a must in the background. When we go to family get togethers we almost always play games on my side of the family. Game on! You will hear that quite often around our bunch. Pictionary, Sequence, Cranium, Rook... you name it... most everyone wants to play. As far as other traditions I tend to keep, this year I have kept a bowl of mixed whole nuts with a cracker on my coffee table as well as a bowl of clementines. It makes me think of my Moma who used to always have those set out at Christmas for guests to enjoy when I was a kid... that and old fashioned hard candy. (I didn't do the candy.) We are getting close my friends, 13 days!!! Thank you so much for the wonderful responses you have left me this week. We can glean so much from one another. Have a great day and let your light shine! What do you do with your Christmas Cards? Not my photo... :) I only have two Christmas cards thus far, and I thought my photo looked lonely. Good Morning! I have another question for you, it seems that I am all about asking you things lately. Christmas Cards. What do you do with them? Do you receive them and stick them in a box, a basket, in the trash? Do you display them? On the mantle, around your doorway, string them from the ceiling? I have a very strong opinion about Christmas cards, and it was handed down from my Moma and from her Moma (my Nannie Red). This is what our family philosophy is... If someone cares enough to send you a Christmas Card, you care enough to display that card! And that holds true for me as much today... as it does for my Moma. You could go to her house and see her Christmas Cards displayed also. So whether I receive two or twenty two or two hundred and two... Mine will be taped around my doorway to see. :) My Cup Runneth Over...

The Christmas Letter Good Morning Friends!!! 16 days until Christmas! WOW!!! I have a question for you. Do any of you write Christmas letters? I have started a letter from our family for our Christmas Card this year. My Sweetheart asked, "Do you think anyone is going to care to read all this?" And "Do you think we are that special that people want to read this?" That never occurred to me... I am not trying to think us special, I just thought that many of our friends and family might not know what went on with our bunch this year... God has done SO much in our lives in just the last year, I thought it was a good way to attest to what He has done. So truthfully, please let me know what you think. Do you send Christmas letters? Do you receive Christmas letters? Do you think them haughty? Do you like them? Have a great day! My Cup Runneth Over...

You've got mail!My Carlie Jean LOVES mail, LOVES it! It doesn't matter to her that it usually is not addressed to her, that she rarely ever receives mail... she doesn't care, she just LOVES to check the mailbox. The other day when Shannon took the three youngers on an errand, Cameo and I made a gift for her while they were gone. We took a smallish shoe box and wrapped it in brown craft paper. Cut one end to make a 'flap'. I wrote our names on the side and of course put up the flag. Afterwards we filled it up with sweet little cards, one for each member of the family, telling them just how special they truly are, and how much I adore them. Shannon's said to 'Meet me under the mistletoe.' :)Now Carlie has a place to put all the mail she writes and she doesn't have to stick them in hiding spots waiting for the recipient to find them. She is tickled that she can check the mail ANYTIME of the day now!!! Don't you love it when something so simple can be so super in the eyes of your child? Have a great day friends. Let's Make Paper StarsHello my friends! What a great day it is looking to be. Let's get started on the stars...Start with, some card stock, double sided tape, some scissors, and a ruler, the buttons and glue are optional. :) Cut 6 two-by-two inch squares in the colors of your choice, I am a traditional gal. I LOVE red and green. Take one of your squares and fold it in half Now fold it in half the other way, and now fold into a triangle This is the only tricky part. Fold the outer edges of your triangle towards the middle Until you have this... Whew... the hard part is over, it is all down hill from here :)Do all six squares the same way Now grab your double-sided tape and get ready to stick.Hold one of your squares/diamonds and put one small piece of double stick tape on the center of the outside, like so Now take an alternating color (if you choose) and stick in the same direction onto your first square, so they are both opening in the same way. Continue this process until all six are stuck together. Woohoo, we are almost there! :)When you let go your 'accordion' star will open backwards, that is what it should do, bring it on around until it touches. Take a last piece of double stick tape and attach the first and last sides together Once attached you are ready to punch a small hole in the top and run a happy ribbon through and hang on your tree. Or you can adorn your star by gluing a rhinestone or button to the middle.Have fun! If you enjoy my site, please take the time and leave a comment, I always read my comments and try my best to reply. I appreciate your visits and I look forward to hearing what you have to say. Have a great weekend and may God bless you.My Cup Runneth Over...

Parade of Christmas Trees Welcome everyone! I hope you had a FANTASTIC Thanksgiving. I know we did. Family time, fun and of course wonderful food. On Wednesday night we went to my husbands grandparents house... and we have many young ladies on my husbands side of the family... beginning with Cameo who is now 11.5 ;), then we have a 10 year old niece, an 8 year old niece, a 6 year old cousin, then Carlie Jean who is 4, and then the youngest cousin who is 2. So I thought, how fun it would be to have a craft for the girls and I to make together. So I gathered the items and we made the gumdrop trees on the left. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and I think the girls did also... needless to say, they wearied about half-way through... it can be a long project if you make your tree as full as I did mine. But they did great and it was really fun to make. I got my idea for the tree from the wreath I made last year from gumdrops. Remember? For the trees, I used a styrofoam cone and a bag of gumdrops and quite a few toothpicks that I broke in half. So fun!The other two trees I found are The recycled magazine Christmas tree and the Curled Paper Tree. After lunch yesterday at my Mom's we made the gumdrop trees also and then made the 3-D snowflakes and some paper stars (which I will share with you next week) :) I have to keep something to bring you back... haha. :) I hope you all have an amazing weekend. We will be busy with preparation for our Sunday School Christmas party that we are having here. Yes, pictures will be a must. HA! Have a great day! My Cup Runneth Over...
