Heritage Acres Farm

Thursday on my homestead

Good Morning friends!  How has your week gone thus far?  I hope it has been a happy week for you.  We have been busy... Last night before AWANA we had pictures for our new church directory.... I sure wish I had the sense to remember that my eyes disappear if I get tickled.  The photographer was trying to get my kids to laugh and when they did it made me laugh and when I laugh or smile big my eyes are history.  Oh well, it was  a nice enough picture, my children and my husband were beautiful.
The picture above shows our newly painted porch.  Doesn't it look nice? I love it! We have plenty of more work to do around here... but I love to see how things are shaping up.
Today we will be a busy day around the house, cleaning, gardening, schooling, baking and this and that.
I don't know if you have checked out The Front Porch recently, but I have asked for your help in how to stay frugal during this time of soaring prices... What I want is for everyone to give us your favorite tip or your best idea and then I am going to compile them into a large post for next week on The  Porch.  I think we could all use a little help, so stop by and give me your input, and then look for the post sometime next week!!!
Have a  great day everyone!  Take time to enjoy your family and your home!

TACO SOUP RECIPE

YUM-O! That Taco Soup looks really, really good! May I have the recipe? I am reacquainting myself with the mighty bean now that food prices are forcing budget tightening! Would appreciate your delicious looking soup recipe.

Your children are lovely, by the way. You are truly blessed.

Thank you, Kindred Spirit!

frugal tips

Hi Chas, I enjoy your blog. Thank you for sharing. My frugal tip is from Crystal at Homemaking Homesteader. Make your own laundry soap, she has the recipe on her blog. I also cut my shampoo in half with water, it lasts twice as long. We turned our heat down to 65 (no toddlers anylonger) and added a extra layer of clothing adding more use of the fireplace. Using wood from our yard or that we find on the side of the road or from friends, we didn't pay any money for the wood. This was a tip from my friend. Once your chimney warms up the wall of your house the heat will spread through the other parts of the house. It worked. Thanks again and I can't wait to hear everyones tips. Always greatful for new ideas. God Bless your family. Cynthia

Few tips

I hand wash my dishes. I have a rinse bucket. Its a basic white bucket from walmart that fits in my sink and all the rinse water goes in there then I dump it into a 5 gallon bucket and I water tree's and flowers that way. Also when you wash veggies you can do it that way too.
Seeds of course are a great $$ saver if you have the climant that will allow (which we don't :( well, not always anyway).
If you wash your car do it near the garden. ;)

Always have a cup of tea for a refreshing day.

Love the porch!! Your house looks alot like mine! I'm in a double wide though, don't know if yours is a double wide or not. We painted out house cream color last year and painted the shutters barn red. Is yours barn red, or maroon? The door is awesome, I need to paint my door, it's just white.

What kind of stones are you using for your walk?

Country Blessings,
Jamie
