My Dearest Love...

Yesterday was my Dearest Loves Birthday!! He turned 32 years old... I can scarce believe how old we are becoming... but I have to say, I wouldn't have it any other way.... I love my life, I love growing old beside the Sweetest and most understanding man I have ever known.  I enjoy our children that The Lord has given us, our home, our life-style... I love the simplicity of our lives... I love that there is time in our lives when we can just be still and enjoy God and each other...
We don't usually do much in the way of gifts, but we do have little things...
The kids made big banners displaying their love for their wonderful Daddy... Pictures of footballs, goal posts, dogs.... Eli made one of Daddy in his camo pants with a gun going hunting... something Daddy has never done... hahahaha.
Cameo made one with the words
D-Dear
A-Adorable
D-Dependable
D-Daring
Y-Youthful
Carlie Jean made her usual ABCD's on a piece of paper for her Dearest Daddy... And Abe, well Abe didn't especially feel like coloring just yet, he is still quite sickie.
One of my gifts was that I wanted to make him a special supper. So I began getting things out for lasagna and realized I didn't have lasagna noodles.... I fretted for a minute and then realized I had some organic whole wheat rotini noodles I had bought and I could use those and it would still be great.  I made up a big salad and the only thing I didn't get done was making bread... I just didn't get to it...
It was a lovely meal and here is my Sweethearts plate....

I wanted to make a special birthday cake for him... not one from a store box!!!  So you know Jewels had a beautiful Banana Friendship Cake on her blog recently so I chose to make that... and let me tell you... It was a wonderful choice!!!!  YUM-O!!!!!
You can probably tell by the picture it was still a little warm and I should have waited much longer to frost the cake but supper was finished and everyone was excited to try the cake...
Up above is the 'special birthday plate' that each of us get on our special day!
After all the dishes were done and after we got everyone ready for bed we read together for a while out of our newest found favorite book Swiss Family Robinson.  I have to say, we are SOOOOOO enjoying that book.  It has very old speech, something that I am not so used to in reading,  but I LOVE to listen to it, I love how everything sounds so lovely.... said I!   and presently for that matter...

Have a wonderful day everyone and big hugs and thanks to Stitchnchick for her sweet offer to help make this blog a lovelier place!!!

Sounds like you and the children made a very special day for your husband. The meal and the cake look wonderful and I'll bet they tasted even better. :-)
We had a birthday at our house yesterday too. My oldest turned 24 yesterday. My daughter made Jewels' recipe for Chocolate Brownie Torte for her brother. (the recipe is in Jewels' July 3rd blog entry). We served it with strawberries on top and it was delicious...."very" rich, but oh so yummy.
