What a wonderful day

Posted in Barnyard Life
Our day began with a nice morning time of togetherness.  Shannon is home today so on the days he is home we try to enjoy being together even more.  We had a nice breakfast of French Toast made out the the bread the children and I made yesterday.  During breakfast I read to the children out of Little House in the Big Woods.  Afterwards we went straight outside to work.  We have some chickens that want to stay under our front porch constantly so we had to try and run them out.  Finally we got them out and put up some barriers so they wouldn't go back under, but those rascals found their way back under...
Here they are wet from where I had wet them with the water hose so they would not go back under the porch.
While all the fuss was going on over the chickens, my little man played with his toys in the sand box....

Here's Dad showing Eli how to cut the blockade for the chickens....

I think Gloria (blessedmomof10) said something about little girls and kittens... I have to agree!
Cameo and I cleaned the porch and Shannon and the other kids cleaned out the back of his truck so he and Eli could use it later.

We had a nice lunch and I read to the children out of The Trans-Continental  Railroad book that we have been reading out of.  How interesting that when they made the Erie Canal it  was only 4 feet deep and 40 feet wide!!!
We cleaned up and then went outside and the men went to the future pasture to pick up metal and the women and little Abe hoed weeds in the garden.  Sorry no pics, I can't take any and work at the same time...
We came in and put the little ones to bed and then Cameo and I took a little time to do some reading.  She is reading Stuart Little and I am reading Like Dandelions Dust a book by Karen Kingsbury.  A friend of mine from church gave it to me.  I hear a little thunder overhead and I wonder if we will get any rain out of the storm that seems to be headed our way.  I am going to go and help get those crazy chickens out from under our porch and try and fix our faulty blockade!  Have a wonderful day!
