A day in my life ~January 2009~

The morning was cold and crisp as I woke, thankful to have been able to have my Dearest Love by my side all throughout the night... it was frightfully chilly and a good frost covered the ground. The children are always amused by the frost, they insist it is snow, even though they really know better.  We have so little snow around these parts, I guess they want to get tickled by what we do have. :)
Morning started with a family devotion, one of the things we enjoy now that Shannon is home sometimes in the early part of our day.  As a family we are learning our Burrell Family Verse...
Philippians 4:8
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Today is piano day, so the house was filled with the sounds of this old treasure of my girlhood... helping Cameo learn makes me want to practice also, so we both take turns at the piano often lately... I hope to better myself enough that the rest of the children can learn by my hand, as well as their big sisters.

I finished my first knit dishcloth last night, I was eagerly working to finish before it was too terribly late.  I have seen such an improvement on my speed... still quite turtle-like, but there is some improvement. :)  The beautiful handmade soap was a gift from my precious Cousin-in-love who has a tiny little lady growing safely inside, for another few months...

The girls helping me with laundry... it is such a sweet sight...

Eli reading Abram countless books... what it does for a Moma's heart.

Actually getting to read some myself... what a delight!

A little surprise something from a dear sweet lady.

Cozied up tonight...
Waiting on my Dearest Love...
Doing a little more of the same...

My Cup Runneth Over...

I know I commented on FB

But I had to come over to your little blog home and see the post. This post is so refreshing! Makes me feel like I am right there sharing it with you.
: )
So poetic.
Thanks.... Love how the dishcloth turned out. I really would love to make some. I am sure Rachel would too.

Looks like you had a wonderful day. I love the Bible verse, it's one of my favorites.
I really enjoy reading your blog, you inspire me both as a Christian and a mom. Keep up the good work!

Sounds like a wonderful day spent with the kids, music surrounding the house.

I can't crochet or knit, so I am in awe over the dischcloth. You did a wonderful job on it.

God's Blessings,
Amy Jo

Oh, I am addicted to those dishcloths. I just can't help it. I love to see stacks and stacks of them, in red and white. I need to start making them again. Okay, I'll stop now. :-) Loved your cozy day! It was beautiful!

Oh, I forgot to add that I posted my "Day in the Life" post as well. We had a "Snow Day." :-)

blog friend...

Hi Chas,

I comment pretty infrequently I must confess, but am an avid reader of your blog. Your post yesterday abou our attempts to be more self-sufficient prompted this post back to you.

I have been a self-proclaimed "city girl," never wanting to be far from civilization, a Wal-Mart, a handy ice cream shop...but after years of dreaming of living in a place with a "little more" land after having kids...our desire was granted this summer. Now, 3 acres and a house might not sound like a lot to many of you homesteaders, but considering the garden we inherited is larger than our city back yard, we're now living the country life! And might I add, so blessed to be homeschooling now for five years, and loving being a little farther away from that Wal-Mart!!The Lord has indeed blessed us.

This brings me to how I came across your website. After we moved in (Augst of 2008) I began trying to learn more about gardening, canning, etc and came across your website. I have been truly inspired by your ideas, and even just reading your weekly menus is fun. I love to see how other mothers make their homechooling lives work, and all the things that bring them joy. You bring joy to your blog, and I thank you for the things you have taught me, and inspired within this now "country girl."

PS-I'm not sure I'm still keen on all the spiders, mice, and some crazy night sounds that I can't yet figure out...but it's only been five months...( :

Thanks for listening, and for sharing your life with us,
Sherry in Delaware

Sweet days

Hi Dear Chas, What a lovely post today. I also love the song playing on your blog. We memorized this verse also. It is a favorite of mine. God Bless this treasure of a family you have. Cynthia
