Heritage Acres Homestead

Interesting...

Good Morning!  Lately I can't seem to blog about anything but my kids... I can't help it, I love them.  They are SUPER! Each one so unique and precious and lovely in their own ways.... BUT, they do have one thing that is the same. It is quite interesting too.  Let me show you some pictures...

Do you see it?  No, it isn't their intensity in their work... hahah! I have 4! lefties!!!!  Yep, 4!!!  Shannon and I are not lefties, but all of our children are.  I think that is pretty interesting.
I am so pleased with how our schooling is going.  There are some things I am seeing that I want to change up a bit, I think I have too big a workload on us, but one thing that I am pretty excited about is our new 'curriculum'.

The Mystery of History Vol I

We are learning chronological history, history that is intertwined with biblical history as well! It is so AWESOME! I am enjoying planning and teaching.  We also have a timeline that helps with all of us visual learners.  I will take a picture of that as we add some more facts to it, as of right now we have just talked about creation and the fact that dinosaurs were created on the same day as the other sea and land animals.
 You didn't know that???
Maybe you should look into this curriculum!
Well, my bunch is ready to be educated so I must go feed their bodies and their minds.
Have a GREAT day!!!

You can blog about your sweet kids anytime. :-)
We used MOH a couple of years ago and loved it! We're going to do MOH Vol. 2 this year. I hear that the third just came out and can be purchased, so that's pretty exciting as well. Have a wonderful day!
(Both my mom and sis are lefties. :-)

chronological history

We do history chronologically too, except we're wrapping up Greece and getting ready to start Rome. We should be in the middle ages, but the school train got derailed last spring between baby and remodel. We use Tapestry of Grace, and I LOVE it. Maybe we have fun books on that time period if you need to borrow some.

Hey Chas. I can't believe you have 4 left handers. How unusual is that, especially when neither you or hubby are. My brother always told me there were studies that said lefties are smarter. Of course, he simply said that because he was the only leftie in the family. LOL My mother, other brother and I are all right handed. My father was considered a righty as well, but he could write with BOTH!!!

Sounds like the Mystery in History Curriculum is going to be very interesting!!! If you want to learn more about creation science, you can visit this awesome site called www.drdino.com We had the opportunity to hear dr. dino's son preach at our church about creation science and how dinosaurs came about a few months ago, and we ended up buying a large set of his DVDs. They are awesome.

God's Blessings,
Amy Jo

Lefties

Good morning, Chasity. :) I'm a lefty, as are my mom, her sister, and my late grandmother. Did you know that some scientists are now saying that left-handed people actually had a twin in the womb that didn't make it, and so the surviving twin absorbed the body of the twin? I'm not sure how they would know that, but eew. That may not be exactly right, but it's something to that effect. :D

Anyway, lefties are smarter, I'm sure of it. ;)
