Blackberries and Dewberries

Good Morning!!!
Remember when I told you that I found a blackberry patch on the farm?  Well.... I was wrong, it isn't a blackberry patch at all.  It is actually a Dewberry Patch.  Dewberries are a close cousin to the blackberry.  Dewberries grow very close to the ground and are slightly smaller than a blackberry.  Whereas blackberries grow in big tall trellising vines, growing upright, and sometimes growing up and over fences.
Dewberries taste very much the same as a blackberry, sometimes maybe a bit more tart.  But oh so yummy.
So there is a bit of knowledge this morning.
Today we are going to harvest some more dewberries and do some much needed baking.  It is time for zucchini bread! Woo hoo!
Well, I hope you have a great day and may God bless you and keep you!

They look good. We have already made zucchini bread twice. Yummy. I do love the "regular" recipe. Have a blessed day. I

dewberries

We have blackberries. They have little pokey things that get in your fingers and will hurt for a week........I think dewberries don't have stickery things.
I think it would be lots more dreamy to have dewberries as opposed to blackberries.
I wore thin garden gloves when I picked them and came home unhurt. Our blackberry vines?bushes? grow close to the ocean. Strange.

OOOH! I love

Zuccinini bread and the recipe we have is soooo moist it's excellent for GF bread. (Most arent moist enough for continuous re-heating cause the rice flour just soaks all the moistness out).

berry season

Just when do your berries become ripe where you're at?
Ours are long gone.

dewberry vs blackberry

Hey Chas!
Thank you for explaining the difference. One of the dogs next door is named Dewberry and I never understood that, so my mom was explaining this to me just this weekend...I also was checking our berries yesterday and I assume ours are blackberries b/c none are ripe yet and they look like sticky vines...and they are all in our woods...ANYWAY, I plan to get my FIL to mow up to them so I can pick enough to make dh Jamey some jam.
