I just finished the front panel of my skirt made from jeans. They're for my daughter. It has been YEARS since I've touched a sewing machine and you can tell by the stitches! They are a little crooked here and there but it's a start! I was telling my husband that I love the smell of a sewing machine. He said he didn't realize they had a smell but they do! Sitting there tonight reminded me of the many, many hours in my sewing class in high school making my prom dress. It's a sweet smell.
Anyway, can't wait to finish it. I really need to brush up on sewing skills and think of some more projects. Good night!
Oh! I guess I should mention that I got the idea/instructions from The Family Homestead.

Now that you mention it, a sewing machine does smell rather nice. Even a fabric store has a distinct aroma as well. Glad to hear you're enjoying sewing again. You might be able to find some nice patterns at garage sales. Many of mine were purchased that way, often brand new. For now I am just making my 5 year old son's flannel pajamas, but I hope to do more sewing when I can. My husband recently got into Dutch oven cooking, so I think a camo apron is in order!

Can you post a picture of your project? I will enjoy reading your journey here. Thanks for stopping over and saying Hi. By the way- it might be better to give hens- no rooster! :o)

There's been lots of buzzing around the hsblog about blue jean skirts! They must be all the rage! I'm like you...I learned to sew in home ec. class. I'm so glad I did. I bought a machine a few years ago and have only gotten up the nerve to sew pillows so far! Reading patterns hasn't come back to me yet! Maybe I should pull the machine out and try some more on it.
