I hope that I will be welcome here. When I was trying to chose a template for this blog I felt like such a phony! The sewing one, well, I took sewing in high school. Even made my prom dress but I haven't done any sewing without a teacher by my side, but I want to! Chickens, yep, had them got scared, gave them away. I'd like to try it again. Horses, we had a couple on our property. My parents took care of them. I just loved on them. So picking the template was hard because they don't describe me...yet.
I'm really wanting to get back to the country life that I remember my parents and I living when I was a small girl. We moved at the end of second grade and I became a city girl. Now I have a yearning to get back to those country ways. We have 5 acres and a barn that we share with my parents. They had horses but finally sold them. I liked to love on them but as far as riding and all the other upkeep, I'd rather not. I tried chickens and they were great but the rooster got really mean and I didn't like trying to catch the chickens. I gave them away but I'd like to try free-ranging them now. It's just hard to get the city girl out me, I guess!
I married to a wonderful but over-worked corporate man ;o) We have 3 children ages 9, 5 and 1 and one more due in September. We homeschool and have done that for 5 years.
That's enough about me. I look forward to learning here. My "List of Things to Learn" for now are canning and just learning how to love getting dirty again. LOL!! I don't even plant flowers or have a dog. I'm telling you, this blog will have to be about my journey of getting the city grit out of me and learning the country life start to finsih. It should be fun!

to feel that way! Many of us "here" are not "there" yet, lol. We're just now having our first real garden - ever, lol.
This is a great place for inspiration, education, and support - no matter 'where' you are in the journey!

Welcome!! I know how you feel... I'm a living in town, working in an office in the city, so sometimes I wonder what I'm doing on a homesteading site! :) But this is where my heart is, and everyone has made me feel really welcome (and I'm learning a lot too!).
I look forward to hearing more about your homesteading journey! :)

Welcome, Welcome. We are all taking it one step at a time. I'm sure even the old timmers can admit to learning something new here. We began our baby steps toward a self-reliant life last summer. I look forward to reading about your journey.

Welcome to Homestead Blogging. Homesteading is all about baby steps, starting with one little step at a time. I lived in the city (700,000) for 16 years and now live in a small rural town, 3hours away from the big city with only 450 people here. However while living in the city, I started my baby steps. The first baby steps were planting 6 tomato plants. From there I (we) just working towards a self-sufficient lifestyle.

You sound like a fascinating lady and I will look forward to seeing what types of things you try and enjoy. I guess I'm a homestead wanna-be too. I think it can be more of a condition of the heart than our geography. May God's blessing rest upon your lovely family.

were new in this at some point. This is the place where you can be yourself no matter what level of homesteading you are at. We learn & share with each other- Its like a support system online...
Welcome, & I hope we hear more from you on your path of discovery in "back to the country".
