Chicken Roll-Ups Recipe

Taken from Georgia's  "Farmer's and Consumers Market Bulletin - Wed. June 21, 2006

This recipe provides a great way to use leftover chicken or turkey.

2 large chicken breasts, cooked and cut into 1" pieces

1 (8oz.) package of refrigerated crescent rolls

1 can (10 3/4 oz) cream of chicken soup, undiluted

1/2 cup milk

1 cup grated cheddar cheese

Separate crescent rolls; place approx. 1 TBS chicken at large end of roll and rool up.  Place in a 9x13" baking dish.  Set aside.

Combine soup, milk and cheese in a medium saucepan.  Cook over low heat, stirring until cheese melts.  Do not boil.  Pour sauce over chicken roll-ups.  Bake at 350 for 30 minutes or until brown.  Yield: 4 servings.

"Jean" Skirt

I just finished the front panel of my skirt made from jeans.  They're for my daughter.  It has been YEARS since I've touched a sewing machine and you can tell by the stitches!  They are a little crooked here and there but it's a start!  I was telling my husband that I love the smell of a sewing machine.  He said he didn't realize they had a smell but they do!  Sitting there tonight reminded me of the many, many hours in my sewing class in high school making my prom dress.  It's a sweet smell.

Anyway, can't wait to finish it.  I really need to brush up on sewing skills and think of some more projects.  Good night!

Oh!  I guess I should mention that I got the idea/instructions from The Family Homestead.

Tuesday's Ten

1)  Corn Dogs or BBQ Ribs?  Corn Dog with mustard, please.

2)  Funnel Cakes or Cotton Candy?

Funnel Cake...and then Cotton Candy :o)

3)  What kind of popcorn is your favorite?  Fisher's Popcorn from Fenwick Island, Delaware.  It's fresh, hot, caramel and oh so yummy.

4)  Are you a thrillseeker?  Do you get on the rides?  We are not talking about the Thomas the Tank Engine ride......

Love 'em.  We have a new one here in GA called Goliath.  After I have this baby, I'm going to ride it!

5)  For all you shore go'ers (like me!)... name your favorite flavor salt water taffy...

Not a taffy fan.

6)  What is the biggest prize you have ever won on the midway games, or that someone has won for you?  I don't know.  Maybe a stuffed animal?

7)  French fries... ummmm... what's your poison?  Salt and lots of it.  If there's Malt Vinegar available I'll take that too.

8)  Caramel apple (with or without nuts) or Candy Apple?  Can I just have a Granny Smith with some salt?

9)  Do you like fireworks?  They're pretty.

10)  Name your favorite fair or carnival.  If you are competing or demonstrating, sound off and brag.  Let's hear about some state and country fairs...

I like all the small town ones.

Our Weekend

The weekend is almost over.  I think this is the 3rd Sunday in a row I have missed church.  The last 2 weeks we have been sick with a stomach virus, dealing with my husband's first kidney stone (his "baby" is what I call it!), and terrible colds.  The virus and the cold hit everyone at different times for the most part and I suppose that's a blessing.  Today my husband and the older 2 children got to go to church but my one year old is still snotty and coughing yucky.  Since he's at the age where he can't sit still and quite very long it's just better to stay at home instead of him going to Sunday School and Worship Service with us.  Plus, I cringe when I hear other kids with the kind of cough he has.  I don't want to spread anything.

Friday my husband was off of work but he was hardly home.  He had a follow-up appointment with his Urologist and ran some errands.  Then Friday night we went on a hunt for Washing Soda for my Laundry Detergent.  We found it at a nearby Publix.  I love that store!  I have been pondering the pros and cons of making my own detergent for a while and finally took the plunge Friday night.  So far I'm pretty impressed.  My 5 year old daughter had a blast helping me make it.  In researching everything, I realized that I have hard water.  I'm adding Borax in my wash now so I'll see if I notice a difference with that too.

Saturday my hubby was sick with the virus so I worked on sanding down an old single paned, wooden window frame that we recently replaced.  I want to turn it into a frame.  It has six panes so I think will be perfect for a photo of each of us.  There will be six when the baby arrives in September :o)

I also used Liquid Nails to glue a decorative, wooden Checkers board (it's in the shape and colors of a watermelon) to the top of an old milk can thing we have on the front porch.  Maybe today I can paint the milk can.  It will make a cute table in between the rocking chairs and of course we'll use it for checkers!  We love to play games together.  I was an only child so I didn't get to play as many games as I would have liked.  Now my poor children and husband have to make up for my deprivation but I don't think they mind!

Thank you for all of the Welcomes   I'm working my way around visiting everyone's sites and am having fun meeting everyone.  Have a restful, worshipful Sunday!!

Introducing me...

I hope that I will be welcome here.  When  I was trying to chose a template for this blog I felt like such a phony!  The sewing one, well, I took sewing in high school.  Even made my prom dress but I haven't done any sewing without a teacher by my side, but I want to!  Chickens, yep, had them got scared, gave them away.  I'd like to try it again.  Horses, we had a couple on our property.  My parents took care of them.  I just loved on them.  So picking the template was hard because they don't describe me...yet.

I'm really wanting to get back to the country life that I remember my parents and I living when I was a small girl.  We moved at the end of second grade and I became a city girl.  Now I have a yearning to get back to those country ways.  We have 5 acres and a barn that we share with my parents.  They had horses but finally sold them.  I liked to love on them but as far as riding and all the other upkeep, I'd rather not.  I tried chickens and they were great but the rooster got really mean and I didn't like trying to catch the chickens.  I gave them away but I'd like to try free-ranging them now.  It's just hard to get the city girl out me, I guess!

I married to a wonderful but over-worked corporate man ;o)  We have 3 children ages 9, 5 and 1 and one more due in September.  We homeschool and have done that for 5 years.

That's enough about me.  I look forward to learning here.  My "List of Things to Learn" for now are canning and just learning how to love getting dirty again.  LOL!!  I don't even plant flowers or have a dog.  I'm telling you, this blog will have to be about my journey of getting the city grit out of me and learning the country life start to finsih.  It should be fun!
