Butter

I haven't had time to set up any photos but I'd still like to introduce Butter to you. Butter is our rust/orangy colored rooster. He is a character!!! We free range the chickens for the most part. Days like today we leave them locked in their coop. It's been raining all day and this afternoon it changed into sleet and ice. Anyway, Butter sometimes chases us and I'm ashamed (not completely) to say it's my fault. Our other rooster is Rocky. And Rocky doesn't chase anyone. I started chasing Butter just a little. I really wanted to see if I could pick him up and pet on him. But he had other ideas. So I would chase him a couple of steps, then stop all the sudden. Butter would turn around and come after me. Just the past month or so he finally is growing spurs so now I have to be careful. He just pretty much flaps his wings at my legs. Although the last time Patrick was watching, he said that Butter was trying to spur me. I don't want him to hurt the boys and he really doesn't go after them unless they are running through the yard.

I can go outside and call "BUTTER" and he comes running. It's so cute!!! Well, I think so. We have so much fun watching them all from our porch swing in the evenings, not necessarily in the winter. :)

Chickens can be very personable. We have a favorite hen. she is much smaller than the other hens and has a very big personality. Her name is Peggy Sue. I would love to see a picture of Butter.

Hi! That's funny about your Butter. My father-n-law's last rooster was Romeo and he was so fast. We had the kids over and he had the chickens out and Romeo started running towards one of my kids. I was shocked how fast he was. I know it's their job to keep the hens in order and all but he was down right mean. We're hoping the next one will be a little calmer.
