A sad morning

Things are sad around here and my David has tears pouring down his little cheeks.  He went down to the barn to feed Warrior, our old old horse, and found him dead.  Warrior was 30 years old.  We had put him in the barn when just before the freeze.  Today it's suppose to get almost 60 and we were going to let him out and give his stall a super good cleaning.   Patrick has to go to work this morning and see if there are any emergencies or anything that he needs to do that can't wait.  Then he is coming home to get us to go get the tractor.  He loaned it to a friend.

Warrior was a good horse.  The boys could ride him either with or without a saddle.  I can't say he was gentle all the time.  He still had quite a spirit in him.  But he did have a gentle side to him.  It was as if he knew when the boys got on him to be more gentle and safer than if Patrick got on him.  Horses are so smart.  We are going to miss him.  And Tommy & P.J. are going to be upset when they get home.  Tommy is so sensitive.  We will have a small service for Warrior tonight.  I know that might sound silly.  But Warrior was a part of the family.  We even had a wedding for our sow & boar pigs, but that is another story.

I need to go get my day started.  I am going to spend extra time with David today too.  I want to be ready when Patrick gets back home.  Blessings to all,  Elizabeth

It is hard when a best friend dies, even when it is your horse.

Please hug your son an extra time for me.

I'm so sorry that your son had to be the one to find your horse. It's makes it harder that way. It has happened here with chickens and ducks. I'll be praying for you today.
Blessings,
Leigh-Ann

I'm sorry about the horse and about your son. That's a hard thing for a child. My daughter's first horse died when she was 10. We buried it using the dozer and she planted weeping willows on the site. It helped her deal with it, that and prayer.
God bless your day.
Rhonda

We lost two horses in the past year and I know how hard it is. Sounds like Warrior was a great guy and VERY well loved.

I am so sorry to hear about Warrior. I remember reading about him the other day on your site and being amazed that your horse was 29...and then I read this tonight and it just made me feel sick inside. I am especially sorry that little David found him. I'll say a prayer for your family regarding this. I am glad that he looks at it as God needing another horse. I am sure that helps, but I know you will all miss him. (((HUGS)))
