The importance of one little boys voice

Posted on Mon 9 Jul 2007 at 07:19

How important is one little boys voice? Around here it seems to be mighty important. My sweet little bird girl catherine can not seem to sleep as well through out the day, if her big brother calvin is not here talking her ear off. Since catherine has been born we have told calvin shhhh, I do not know a bizzillion times, when she is sleeping. Well he still talks, maybe a little quieter.

When calvin and his dad went fishing on saturday, it was just me and catherine. She did not sleep good at all. It was just to quiet for her. Even the tiny little noise would wake her up. When her big brother got home, and talked and talked she slept like a rock. So I am convinced that Calvin's constant talking has its place, and catherine seems to love it. Well she has heard his talking since she had ears in the womb.

Yes he does need to learn to be quiet when we tell him, but bird girl already loves her brother.  AWWWW!!!!.

The nick name you have given your daughter is not very flattering. She is beautiful! I have 3 daughters and each one slept according to her own needs. Each child is lovingly made and differently created. Schedules are for adults, not infants, they make their own. Being flexable is the key to enjoying your infants and saving you from trying to control things. That privilege belongs to Our Lord and Savior!!

my ds5 is "bug" (not very flattering either!), dd3 is "Bear" and baby girl is either "bird" or "roo" (as in kanga) there are reasons children get the names we call them. "bird girl" can be a perfectly flattering name, if she knows why and that you love her.

Roo also knows her big bro's voice. i remember she was a few weeks old and fussy fussy. I told Bug to sing to her. IMMEDIATLY she quieted. he had been singing to my stomach for weeks before her birth, and she recognised his voice.

I'm sorry that the previous poster felt it necessary to anonymously leave a nasty comment on your daughter's nickname. I'm sure he/she would think I was a horrible person because I nicknamed my sweet baby girl "Tree Frog" when she was newborn because she drew her legs up under herself and looked like a frog ready to jump! After that, it was "Peanut" because she had a peanut shape to her head. I think your daughter's nickname is too sweet! Hopefully the other poster will find something better to do with his/her time than anonymously leave nasty comments on something that is none of his/her business. The gift of life is precious and beautiful, but not everything has to be serious and stolid. Nicknames are a good way to label each child when you're writing about them on your blog when who knows who is reading it. Obviously God has a sense of humor about the things he creates and so should we. Otherwise, why would he have made chimps and orangutans look so funny?

I did not make a nasty comment about the nick name, only a comment. Your reaction, was not Christ like! I was only trying to point out, God lovingly creates us all individually! Sleep patterns included. No malice intended!
