Animal under the house part #3

Posted on Thu 25 Jan 2007 at 07:44
Well todays story is not as exciting. My dh asked me to call around yesterday to see what it would cost to have someone come out and get this critter from under the trailer. Well I called around to the wildlife critter places, and they want, 170.00 to come out, and 60.00 per animal they catch.  Ok thats great, but I do not have that kinda money just sitting around. So that route was out. I had some great tips to call our animal control. So I had to leave a message there, they called back. He was a very nice man, and said here they just do more domestic animals. He knew which trailer park I was in, before telling him the name. (we have a massive stray cat problem) so they are out here alot. So another route scratched off the list. So I did research online. Which is such a valuble tool anymore. I then called our maintence at the park, and left a message to see if they had a live trap for a us to borrow. I still have not heard back from them.  SO when chris got home from work, we went to menards and bought us a live trap and some cat food in a can.(that stuff is so nasty smelling). Cost us a little over 20.00. Then chris baited it and put it under the trailer. We then had to leave for church. So we got home just before 9:00 and checked our trap, nothing. But the stray cats were buy, they could smell the food under the trailer, and chris dropped alittle outside. The critter was walking around all night. Not loud, but I heard him. To say that I am getting rest full sleep, is crazy. I hear this thing all the time. Its getting annoying.  So the critter saga continues.

Your critter

Sounds like it is either a skunk (PU) or a opposum. We live in a trailer in a park and our elderly neighbor had opposums living under his place. They tore down all of the insulation under his house! Poor guy of 70 had to get out there and replace it all himself! Granted, my husband would have helped him if he was home but this time he wasn't. A few weeks ago our other neighbor saw the critter trying to dig it's way under again so she told him and he connected a sprayer to a bottle of amonia and sprayed the critter. LOL! It hasn't returned there but I think that it took up residence at the other neighbor's. :o(
Blessings,
Miki

Possums?

Posted on Thu 25 Jan 2007 at 07:59 by Lynne
My neighbors have possums that live under their screened in porch. I sometimes see them when I take my dog out at night. My neighbors don't mind the possums. I wonder if the possums are scratching around because they are trying to find a place to get warm. I will be very curious to see what your animal turns out to be. Good luck. I can imagine how stressful this must be for you.
