Animal under our house, and the fun we had

Posted on Tue 23 Jan 2007 at 07:49
Well, living in a mobile home as we do, it has its share of problems. One of those wonderful problems is animals under your trailer. A couple of years ago we had skirting that had holes in it and was falling apart.(so we had a mother cat and all her babies living under there) Well we got that fixed last fall, with all new skirting all the way around. So we thought tight skirting no animal problems this year. Ha!! We did under estimate that problem. While I was gone sick to my mothers, my hubby kept saying there is something under the house, crawling around. So he tried to posion it, trap it.( it stole the traps) nothing worked. Last week we took a trip around the house and saw there was some small holes under the skirting where the ground and the skirting shifted during the cold weather. So we broke up some paving stones and plugged those holes. We heard the animal that night. Arrgh. This has been going on but not that bad, we hear the animal on the belly wrap under the trailer. I was kinda getting used to it. So two nights ago hubby put some different posion under the trailer, and we did not hear anything, for two days. Then last night hubby went out on church visitation so it was me and my boy wonder here. We were getting dishes ready to do, and we heard this really really loud noise, coming out of my bathroom. So we tip toe quietly in there, and the animal has found its way under my tub. I have a standard mobile home garden tub. Sits on foam on plywood. So the animal was eating and scratching at the foam and pushing on the bottom of the tub. We have two five gallon buckets of water in the tub in case the power goes out. So the water was splashing out of the buckets and moving around. To say I was scared is an understatement. So I told boy wonder we need to stuff some towel in the holes we could see ,then to call his dad. We called the cell like 5 or 6 times that night. It was on vibrate. So I grab a broom, that was my weapon of choice. So the animal becomes silent. I tell calvin lets get back to dishes. Not a minute later we hear the animal behind our fire place. Now our fireplace just has some paperboard walls around a big opening. So this was freaking me out. Calvin was strong and brave. Then we hear it move to Calvins bathrroom under his tub, eating the foam and pushing on the tub. The animal did this for a couple of hours. Back and forth between the tubs. I had my broom, calvin had his 30 cent flashlight. So I needed to find him a weapon in case this animal got out. I gave him a hard plastic pipe extesion to our vaccum. So we did our dishes and followed the animal back and forth. The animal finally stopped moving. My hubby called my on his way home and apoligized for not getting the phone. I said thats ok, we took a few minutes out in our hunt to pray to God to help us in our quest. To let Chris call or come home, or protect us. He protected us. God is great. So Chris came home and no animal all night praise God. Calvin was up and at um this morning with his beating stick ready to find the animal. HAHAHA. Dad told him, hes the man of the house while hes gone at work. Calvin liked that.  So when chris gets home we are getting traps and putting them under our tub. Its really the only place to catch it.
So that was the newest and latest adventure on the cement slab.

This is really scary

Casondra, What could it be? What would eat this foam? Do you think it was tearing off the foam to build a nest? Let us know how this story ends.
