Living in Mexico, uh, California

Wow. Living here is sooo different! I am currently in Seaside California, very close to Monterey, and I'm constantly amazed at the "different culture" feel. Because our last apartment raised the rent, we found a "cheap" place closer to where Jonathan works that would rent month to month. Yeah, I say "cheap" because we're paying $875 for a 500 square foot apartment, 1 bedroom. And it has a community bathroom. Okay, that last part I'm just kidding about. But the walls are pretty thin so you can hear just about everything.

Last night, the neighbor upstairs (who also happens to be the manager) had his tv on all night. We could hear the low droning in our bedroom. Oh, and don't forget the neighbor next door who snores! It feels more like we're living in a dorm. Not like I've done that before, but I can imagine it might be similar.

It's been interesting being a minority. We're mostly surrounded by hispanics, and not a whole lot of people speak English. We get Jehovah witness's knocking on our door that are surprised we're a white family that doesn't speak spanish. It's funny.    So occasionally I'll turn the tv on to watch a spanish channel and try to pick out a few words. I've learned a new one: "por-kay", rolling the 'r' sound of course. It means "why".

Anyway, it's a fun experience, one that I'll definitely remember! Right now we don't have a stove, it's not working and we're waiting for a part to come in to fix it. So for now I've been using my imagination to come up with dinner. And I think I've used it all up! Ahh! Oh well, I can usually come up with something.

Gotta go now. I want to work a little on my website before Caden wakes up!

Have a wonderful day everyone! Blessings to all,

Carolyn

Thank you all!

Thank you guys so much for the very warm welcome! I was kind of surprised by it, but excited too! Slowly but surely I will get around to visiting your pages as well.

Right now my hubby, Jonathan, just walked in the door, so I'll have to cut this short, but I'll be back!

My first blogging session

So here is my first blog! I'm looking forward to posting quite a bit on here when I find the time. For a little bit about me...I'm 21 and have a handsome husband and adorable baby boy. Baby boy is currently expressing his displeasure at being put in the swing for so long. He gets bored easily. It's cause he's so smart. Hah hah, we'll see if that's true or not.   Anyway, I'm working on getting my website up and running. It'll be about horses (one of my bigger passions in life) and what you need to know and have in order to get one. A work in progress.

Anyway, it's the weekend and there's lots to do, but I just wanted to post something real quick! So there you go, Hannah, Emily and Leanne! I love you guys and I'll see you on here soon!

Carolyn
