Blackwater River Ranch

• Wednesday, January 7, 2009 - Dead Weight

The snow was close to white out conditions as we loaded up the pups to head out to a ranch about an hour from us.I had my card making supplies with me. My friend and I were going to make a couple of cards while my husband went a little further out to another ranch. He and that rancher had a job to do. The shooting of an old cow. This old girl they were just going to put down and then load in to the back of our truck which we could then bring her home for dog food.
So off we headed into the snowstorm with our not so good summer tires and no weight in the truck as all the wood had been unloaded in order to make room for the cow. It actually wasn't too bad travelling there. Stopped by the cafe (closest gas and cafe and groceries and mailbox site) It is 3/4 of an hour or so from us on a windy narrow piece of highway. We got gas went in and said hello to everyone there. It is the local coffee spot and the food is good as it is all homemade. One little gal from a ranch had come to get her mail. It is mail day twice a week out this way. Tuesdays and Fridays are big days. Anyways she asked if we had any pups left . We hav
e just the one left for sale. Here is hoping although the people who want a pup wanted a male and ours is a little female.
The snow was really piling up when Dennis dropped me off at our friends and headed out to the other ranch to kill the cow.We did get some cards made before he got back.
Dennis came back with the dead weight in the back of the truck saying hello and think we better get going Roxanne the snow is piling up pretty bad. The mountain pass we have to go through is not good at the best of times let alone in this stuff. We said our good-byes and dropped off
something at some friends. Stopped by our son's family home. Picked up some fabric said hi to all four grandchildren there. they were having a blast shovelling the deep snow off of dad's trailer. He hauls hay with it. Mommy was going to check and feed the horses. We couldn't stay so off we went. You know surprisingly enough the roads being very snowed on were not too bad. The logging trucks were all going pretty slow. We travelled at about 40 to 60 klicks. So glad we had that old cow in the back as it could have been a very different story  I'd be a writing here this morn if we hadn't of.
Now I am ready to start working on the quilt again. It will take
over my life for the next few days in order to get it done?? by the 12th of this month.

I know both hot to be abased,
and I know how to abound:
every where and in all things
I am instructed both to be full and
to be hungry, both to abound
and to suffer need.
I can do all things through Christ
which strengtheneth me.
Philippians 4:12-13

The things which strengtheneth me in Christ
that I will try to do. I think if one was into
making New Year's re
solutions that would be a
good one.~~~
Praying your day will be a blessing to you
and to the LO

Howdy. Just wanted to let you know that I'm still here and enjoying your blogs. I like imagining what it must be like living up there such a distance from things. In a way, I think it'd be rather nice.
