Blackwater River Ranch

• Sunday, January 4, 2009 - Precious in His Sight

Yesterday as I was packing water to the horses and cattle I thought of all the so-called mundane things we do in a day. Just to maintain there are things that HAVE to be done. Pakcing water to livestock is one of them. Filling the old tin tub with the water so the animals can actually have a drink instead of eating snow. Water splashed over my homemade mittens. Freezing them stiff even though it was pretty warm at only -8 (it was afternoon) All the metal I touched my mittens stuck too. The horses took over the water at first then the bull came down with the girls. The girls were thirsty but he did not care in the least and kept his head in the tub not letting themin at all. He and I got into a big fight. I found a piece of broken rail and kept poking him and wacking him trying to get him to let the other drink~~he kicked our poor old Pepsi doggie. She got back up and at it. She might be old but she still thinks she is a cow dog. In the end watering got done and then it was time for firewood. Off I went to help my husband unload a load of firewood. He did the chopping and I packed the kitchen wood. He packed the big heater wood in a wheelbarrow over to the wood chute. Then it was time to come in and make supper.
My dryer had finally thawed and my fabric got dried so I ironed it up. Today I will cut the squares out and get some of the appliqueing done on them.
I managed to sort out the craft supplies I was working on yesterday now I have to organize them into easily accessible containers. Some things just seem to have take a
lot of attending to.
This evening will be church so that is our big outing~~
Our church is held at our pastors house. There is not very many of
us but it is enjoyable just the same and a real blessing. We have worship time singing to a guitar with Indian drumming and a flute. Some of our hymns are in the Carrier Language. There is the word of the LORD read and the pastor gives a sermon after that the prayer feathers are past around the circle. Each of us prays either silently or aloud. There is never a rushing to pass the feathers on. Afterwards there is always a coffee time (or tea) once a month is a potluck time.
I do not have my lists figured out for the day as yet. I know the so call-called mundane things HAVE to be done. Not sure if there is any real mundane things around here but the everyday chores I suppose. Something always happens to make it not so mundane. LOL

 The sleep of a labouring man is sweet,
Whether he eats little or much;
But the abundance of the rich will
not permit him to sleep. Ecclesiastes 5:12

I found this little saying in one of our children's little books:~~Blessed is the man who is too busy to worry in the daytime and too sleepy to worry at night. Phil Marquart

Have a blessed"mundane" day remembering You Are Preci
