Menu Plan 4th-10th February

Despite the fact that the ground was covered in snow and the weather people were threatening, the box people didn't cover our vegetable box over with plastic yesterday, which I was a little annoyed about.  Nothing was harmed, but I'd ordered two bags of flour, which comes in paper bags and wouldn't really survive the wet!

We've got what I think is rather a good selection of veggies this week.

Potatoes, carrots, onions, mushrooms
Swede, beetroot, bagged oriental salad, Brussels tops, Brussels sprouts
3 bananas, 3 minneolas, 1 lemon, 6 apples

We also have a few things left in the house from before: 1/2 a celeriac, 1/2 a green pepper, a few carrots, and lots of potatoes

Wednesday: We're eating out tonight, since I've got to go to a meeting in Bottisham and can't get home beforehand.
Thursday: At Mum's (NB - cook Friday's supper this evening while making sandwich lunches)
Friday: Pasta with onion, brussels tops and cheese
Saturday: Rabbit pie with mashed swede and carrot, brussels sprouts; Sultana and butterscotch pudding
Sunday breakfast: Fried potatoes, eggs and mushrooms
Sunday lunch: Bean and veg stew (black-eye beans, celeriac, swede, green pepper - wonder if I can use the beetroot vinegar left from the Pickled Beetroot we ate over Christmas)
Monday: Leftovers
Tuesday: Beetroot and lentil salad with Jacket potatoes

Last night I cooked pizza, and I was brave enough to put mushrooms on it and eat a (very small) amount of salad with it.  Two things that I don't eat.  The mushrooms were fine, as I couldn't tell they were there, but I'm still rather unsure about salad.  Still working on that one....

Colur (Canadian spelling)

Your pictures are rich with colour. Yes, those plants-the yellow ones burning into red on top are wonderful. I had the priviledge of working in wals 14 times, 10 days at a time, and usually took 1 day off to sight see. Wonderful (There are a few pictures and a couple of wales tales on my blog if you wish to browse) . I remember the one time I did not get the day off in the 10, and i stayed at the bosses rented house in the country. I came out to wait for him at the car. The hills and valeys were rich in the dawning light, the sheep all facing one way on the hillside in the rising mist, smoke lifting from distant cottages, and THOUSANDS of rabbits hopping everywhere. A 30 second moment that is bigger than most memories I can think of. Your meal plan for the wake took me there as i am sure at least one of those rabbits has volunteered for for somones menu since then... Thanks for giving me a good start to my day... Ah ... correction on spelling

I am really glad none of your food was damaged. That is a good picture of God's bountiful provision!

About Me

Hello! I'm Jo, I'm 27 and I live in a small house in England with my husband. I work full time in an office, and in my spare time I help out with Sunday school and the church youth group. When I have time, I enjoy reading, cookery and crafts, and a bit of gardening. We don't have any kids, but would really love to have some one day. Thanks for visiting me here!

Some words are different in England and America, so if you're American and I use an unfamiliar word, it might be in my little dictionary
