Simple Woman's Daybook for 12th January 2009

Outside my window... Cool and wet today.  Thankfully it's much warmer than last week now, although it was pouring with rain this morning.

I am thinking... about plans for Sunday School that I'd would like to try and work out.  The curriculum we're using is getting increasingly wishy-washy, so I'm tempted to try and come up with something myself.

I am thankful for... The dedication of the one child who did come to Sunday schhol yesterday.  When there's only one child in the class, I can find out properly how much they do know - and it turns out this girl has learnt a lot more than she generally lets on!

From the kitchen... I'm making stew this evening to eat tomorrow (it can heat up in the oven on the timer), and we still have a house full of goodies - parkin hasn't been eaten up yet, and I made granola bars, lentil snack-balls and malt loaf on Saturday, which is all yummy.

I am wearing... Black trousers and a green jumper.

I am creating... I got out my patchwork and did a little at the weekend.  I tend to create plans far more than I do actual objects, though.  Spent some time last week working out how to edit the blog template, and I'm quite happy with how it's turned out.  I think it looks rather nicer than it did before, although there are still a few things I'd like to change.

I am going... to the wholefoods store tomorrow to stock up on oats.

I am reading... Christian: Take Heart! by Tom Wells, For the Children's Sake by Susan Shaeffer Macaulay, and The Power of a Praying Woman by Stormie Omartian (not sure about the spelling there).  Bible: John, Genesis, Matthew.

I am hoping... to clean the kitchen and get some Sunday school stuff this evening, though I think I may have agreed that a survey company can phone me up - I hope that doesn't take too long.

Around the house... My husband was commenting that it looked rather bare without the Christmas decorations.  The kitchen is in desperate need of a good scrub..

One of my favorite things... sleeping all night through without waking up once.  This doesn't often happen (as I tend to get too cold or too hot and waken), and once awake I fret and it takes some time to fall asleep again.  But when I do manage to sleep through, I feel so much better the next day!

A few plans for the rest of the week: Bible study, cleaning the Church, visiting my parents, Youth Group and hopefully a peaceful weekend.  We have no plans at all for next weekend at present, which is a rare treat.

Here is picture thought I am sharing...

These are the mince pies that G and I made for Christmas - there was seriously delicious.  All gone now, unfortunately, so we'll have to wait till December for more.

Hi Jo! I'm so glad you stopped by for a visit. Sounds like lots of lovely things happening around your home. Aren't the seed catalogs so tempting? I haven't yet decided what we're going to yet grow. I am a bit new to gardening so I want to keep it really basic. It's so exciting!

Wishing you a week filled with joy,
Lea

About Me

Hello! I'm Jo, I'm 27 and I live in a small house in England with my husband. I work full time in an office, and in my spare time I help out with Sunday school and the church youth group. When I have time, I enjoy reading, cookery and crafts, and a bit of gardening. We don't have any kids, but would really love to have some one day. Thanks for visiting me here!

Some words are different in England and America, so if you're American and I use an unfamiliar word, it might be in my little dictionary
