Looking Forward To Sewing!I have material for four dresses that I need to make -
The red check and the green doggie fabrics are for daughter. The two pink fabrics on the right are for the daughter of a friend. Sewing is a lot like homeschooling for me: I love the planning and getting the materials, kind of grin and bear it through the actual work - making changes and adjustments as needed, and then delight over the finished product! I can't wait to cut into these!! Some End of Summer SweetnessHere's a bit of summer sweetness - a dress for Miss M's daughter, Little Miss K. Made in a soft pink seersucker, with cap sleeves and just-right pockets. I added a little swirl stitching to the top of the pocket edge, and finished the bottom hem with a scalloped stitch. And once again, I altered the pattern so that the bodice is completely lined and no seams are exposed. I also did french seams on the skirt. A Set of Aprons FinishedI sew for others, and this is a set of aprons ordered by Miss M for she and her daughter. I love the little petit four fabric. I think they turned out very well! They are all folded up, with the little matching doll apron on top. I've also made an apron for my wonderful Sister-In-Law - but mailed it before I could take a picture. Here's the fabric I used, a lovely lavendar watercolor -- Some Needed SewingI've been finally sewing the past few days. I say finally because I've had some projects that needed doing a LONG time ago and I'm finally getting around to them. But, better now than never - or in two months when I had planned to take my sewing on vacation, since that seems to be a time when I can really focus and get so much more done than when I'm at home. Anyway, my first two projects were some needed clothes for my daughter. We've had a favorite dress patterns that i've used for years, but she is getting older and growing out of it - as in now she's a little too mature to wear it. So I'm on the search for some new favorites. A quick and easy one was this skirt - McCall's pattern 5310
The next was a cute dress that turned out incredibly sweet with this great fabric I purchased a few years ago - Simplicity pattern 3860
With just a little eyelet ruffle sewn inside the bottom hem, it is perfect and definitely a pattern that I will be using again! (Man, you wouldn't believe how long it took me to figure out how to put these pictures into this post! How in the world am I going to figure out how to add stuff to the sidebar??) I'm finishing up a set of aprons now and will post those as soon as they are finished!
