Ann'a MMM: Progress Report #1It has been a week since I signed up and pledged to join Ann on her Mega Memory Month challenge. I determined to memorize the Hallel Psalms, 113-118.It's going well and with a few sleepless nights - one in particular - I have been able to memorize Psalm 113: (typed from memory - with corrections in red.) Praise ye the LORD. Praise, O ye servants of the LORD, praise the name of the LORD. Blessed be the name of the LORD from this time forth and for evermore. From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD's name is to be praised. The LORD is high above all nations, and his glory Who is like unto the LORD our God, who dwelleth on high, Who humbleth himself to behold the things that are in heaven and in the earth! That he may set him with princes, even with the princes of his people. Not too bad - just need to make sure I have all the to's and the's in place and my Who's and He's correct! I need to share how good the LORD is as well. In Sunday School this past month we have been working through the book of Ruth and in preparation for class this past Sunday I went on-line to read Matthew Henry's Commentary for Ruth 3 (that we would be covering in class). Not only was it very interesting, but it was a blessing as well in that Mr. Henry referred several times to Psalm 113 (in particular the last three verses) - the Psalm that I just happened to be memorizing at the time. The LORD's hand truly is over all things. I've also been reading over Psalm 114 frequently but have not started to officially work on it so I will not torture you with my spotty memorization up to this point! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ EDITED TO ADD: I had some time this morning while lunch was baking and before we had to leave so I sat down with Dear Son #3 and memorized Psalm 114!! When Israel went out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of strange language; Judah was his sanctuary, and Israel his dominion. The sea saw, it and fled: Jordan was driven back. The mountains skipped like rams, and the little hills like lambs. What ailed thee, O thou sea, that thou fleddest? thou Jordan, that thou wast driven back. Ye mountains, that ye skipped like rams; and ye little hills, like lambs? Tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the LORD, at the presence of the God of Jacob; Which turned the rock into a standing water, and flint into a fountain of waters. Yeah!! Two Psalms down, four to go! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If you'd like to join in the Mega Memory Month Challange, or to read a lot of really great suggestions on how to make memorization easier, then click HERE. I would encourage you, as a sister-in-Christ, to hide God's word in your heart. A verse that is meaningful to you; a small passage that encourages you; a chapter that exhorts and challenges you. You will never be sorry at the time spent memorizing scripture. It is our Sword! (Eph. 6) Leave a Comment { Last Page } { Page 40 of 135 } { Next Page } |
