Simply Wonderful!!!!

This "simple living" gal has had some simply stressful days..... YUCK! I tend to struggle during February EVERY year.... I am soooo over winter, but the grip of cold still has a firm hold. I am ready to be outside soaking in the sun getting dirt under my nails as I dig in the garden! I want to escape the four walls and four children (I do enjoy motherhood, but am ready for a BREAK!!!). It has been weeks since I have had anytime alone..... OK, enough with my pity party..... My husband has the weekend off (that in itself is wonderful) and he has offered to stay here with the kids while I get away for the weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My Grandmother has a condo about 2 hours north of me (she winters in Texas) that is completely available for me to stay at!!!! I am SO OUT of here come Friday evening!!!!!!!! I am going to be refreshed as I sleep, read, pray and praise!!!! Thank you Jesus!!!!

T'was the night before.....

....CHURCH!!! I don't know what it is like in your home on Sunday mornings, but around here it can be crazy! What makes Sunday mornings so difficult to get out the door for church? To ward off some of the stress making sure that the following things happen on Saturday evening will help a ton....

  • Showers/baths for the children
  • Pick outfits and have them completely ready
  • Bibles laid out
  • Coats and shoes ready
  • Breakfast food organized
  • Get to bed on time

It is amazing how these steps can help keep the peace on a Sunday morning. I do think that the enemy attacks... he doesn't want us at church and if we do make it to church he wants us distracted and stressed! I don't want to give him an inch!

Choosing simplicity by walking in Forgiveness

Resentment and grudges use up a lot of time and energy in our lives. YUCK!!! I hate days wasted in bitterness.... never has done me any good! This week as I have focused on "Romance" this Valentines week guess what my husband has been doing every evening???? Sleeping!!! How dare he! By the time I have gotten the kids down (between 8-8:30) he has been asleep...... so much for "romance"! I have had two Choices:

*Frustration, anger, bitterness, self pity
*Forgiveness, understanding, grace, mercy

At first I could feel option 1 welling up inside.... then I CHOSE (made a direct decision to go against what I wanted to feel) to go with option 2. I really thought about things from his perspective and began to THANK God for all the wonderful things about my husband. I went from frustration to feeling very blessed... all because I CHOSE to follow forgiveness, understanding, grace and mercy. My husband works HARD (physically) as a custom ceramic tile installer. The past several weeks have been LONG.... he is exhausted!!! Sleep is what he needs right now.... Romance will wait for him to be rested up!!!! The weekend is coming!

PARTY!!!!!!!

Birthday's are magical.... especially when you are
turning 4!!!  Remember the feeling of owning
the world.... really being a princess!!
My niece celebrated her 4th birthday
on Saturday afternoon with a Strawberry
Shortcake theme! My niece was as cute as
could be!

My sister always has the best parties!!!!
She is an amazing cook.... this time she
served (16 people) home made beef and noodles
(noodles home made... my husband said they
were the best noodles he has ever had),
mashed potatoes, fresh bread, an AWESOME "spring" salad
( I ate TWO bowls of it.... made me "feel" like
spring even though the ice storm was kicking
up gears outside), and many finger foods!
The cake she made for her
daughter was soooo cute.... she is creative!!
Her home is always so warm and inviting....
we love it there!  I just wish we
didn't live 50 miles apart..... we were blessed at
one time to live next door to each other!!!!

Anyway.... Happy Birthday to little "K"!!!
We love you!!!!!

Chic time!!!

On Friday Mornings.....
There is a group of 6 of us fellow moms that get
together at my house! We are going through the book
"Power of a Positive Mom" By Karol Ladd.  Being in
the company of like minded Christian friends fills me
with encouragement and gives me energy to keep going!!
You know how it is when you are with a group of
women that really care about you and each other...
you can be yourself....  share your heart... and
do some laughing!  Oh, yeah, and did
I mention eating??Thank you Becky for the
awesome braided apple bread!! YUM!!!!!!!!

This morning while I was preparing for the group
(translation... sweeping the floor) I was praying.
In my Spirit I felt God tell  me that this kind of group
is important.  Even Jesus didn't go it alone... he
had 12 disciples!  I am certainly not going to
pretend I don't need something that even Jesus
needed!  .... I need my group of friends to support and inspire me!!!

I just want to thank everyone in my group...
You are a BLESSING to me!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, APRIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For all of you out there that are not a part of a group
I encourage you to become a part of one... or start
one up yourself!  If you have any questions about
starting up a group or just need some ideas... I would
be happy to help out...  I promise you will be blessed!!!

Have a great day!!
I am signing off to get my two little ones down for
their naps and starttackline the "mount washmore".
(I really got behind on laundry this week)
YIKES!!!!!!

My Deccorating Style???

Over on homemakershomestead.... my absolute favorite forum.... (see my links area) we have a thread going about our deccorating stlye.  Below you will find some pictures of my home.... my evolving style!

Looking into the dining room and then
into the living room.  Notice my hubby's
fantastic deer on the wall.  The living room
is our "outdoors" room.  As you can see
we still have young children in the home....
baby gate between the LR and DR!  Also
the little picnic table and booster seat.  The
dining room is a highly used room.  Obviously
we eat our meals here, the kids do their
homework here and our heat source is in this
room.  We tend to stay in this room a lot
on very cold days.... the wood stove keeps it
 nice and warm.

Below you will see the wood stove drying
out the kids coats, snow pants, gloves and boots!
They played and played and played outside today!

A closer look at the "outdoors" room.  We are
blessed to have beautiful wood floors.
Our home was built in 1911.

Right now we are blessed to have my sister's
piano in our home.  This is one of my favorite
areas in the house!  This is in the dining room
on the opposite wall from the wood stove.

Thats it folks!!!!  I hope you enjoyed the tour!
Come back for a visit anytime!

Get in a GUYS mind!! Modesty survey results are in!!!

I found this survey while I was surfing on-line the other day.  I sent out the link to my friends, but thought that now that I am blogging I should include it here!  I really think that this link helps us females get a peek into the male mind!  Scarry???????  INSIGHTFUL!!!!  Please check out this survey and pass it on to anyone you can think of.  Our Christian brothers have a difficult job of trying to keep their thoughts pure!
