Info for You
Posted in Thoughts Comments or Concerns
Hey everyone! I wanted to take a moment to let you all know what is going on. Yesterday, the end of the HUGE UHSE 2008 sale, Simple Journey Bookstore crashed. Everything was lost…well mostly. After many attempts to restore, I found I had to rebuild the store from the gound up. SO, I worked on that until it was morning time for the rest of my family. Many thanks to those of you who took the time to email me about your issue with any of the sites. I am working on getting them repaired today. But, there may be issues I do not know about yet. Please email me if you notice something is not working right and what site you were on (SJ Ministries, JTS, or SJ Bookstore). I really appreciate your help!
Due to yesterday’s chaos with the bookstore, some were unable to make their last minute HUGE UHSE purchases. If you are one of those, please email me and you will still be able to order at the sale prices. If you have already emailed me, check your inboxes!!!
Thanks for hanging in there ladies.
OH, one more thing if you haven’t received an email from Cindy yet (check your inboxes), she is working on editing the rest of the audios! YIPPEE! I went over today to check on some of the new goodies and I am more than excited to dig in!
These are my thoughts.

Back to Business!

So the live part of the Ultimate Homeschool Expo 2008 is over. Well, mostly over. There are still a few make-up sessions to participate in. For that I am grateful, because I get to hang out with many of you and THAT is FUN! Better than that, it will give me more chances to give away Free Gifts and Doorprizes!
Speaking of Free Gifts, if you participated on either Friday or Saturday, don’t think you have been forgotten. I am having trouble with my email out here in the campground. That’s camping! Have no worries, I will be getting those last Free Gifts at the beginning of next week when I return to my normal computer. YEAH! Something to look forward to…ALWAYS Fun!
Well, our camping holiday is going great. The weather has been perfect. Sunny, but not to hot during the days. Cool in the evening w/o too many bugs. That doesn’t happen often here in SW FL, so we are really loving it!
We can’t wait for Daddy to come join us, that’s for sure. We have all missed him. But he will be here before we know it!
So what’s in store here at the Journey to Simplicity? Well, Next week I will return to my normal schedule of postings. In addition, I will be answering specific questions! SO, if you have a question about how to live more simply or frugal ideas, email me at Leslie@leslievaleska.com!
I am cooking something up for tomorrow while on holiday, but that’s the only hint you are getting. Post a guess on this post and the first one to guess what the post will be, will receive a Free Gift! And You KNOW how much I love giving away Free stuff! So start guessing ladies!

Well, this has been along stint away for me, eh? Life has been calling and that is always a priority for us. But it is so exciting! We have been working through so much, that it is exciting just to see God's intimate workings in our lives.
The biggest is that the hubby has just started a business. It won't ever make us a fortune, but we don't care. We know God will use it to meet our needs, which is all we ask. He will be working his business part time with a goal of sustaining our family exclusively within six months. Although that's his goal, our reality goal is a year. There has been so much work involved in the start-up, I had no idea! Just dealing with banks about business accounts has had my head spinning. Do you know every bank we have dealt with has said they are teh best in the industry for business banking? Now, how can that be? Self proclaimed titles have been wearing on my nerves, can ya tell? Hopefully all of our governement paperwork will be approved by week's end, then we have to really get shaking. Which also means that we have been workingon developing a training course for the hubby's assistant (our son). This is whole different type of world he will be stepping into, so he needs extensive schooling. Oh did I say school, I meant training. Funny how homeschoolers can utilitze life for education. THAT in mind, I have to revamp his schedule so that he can do job training AND school. That is going to change our schedule considerably, but that's where we are. =)
With all this you would think I would be exhausted, but I have been working on a few articles and getting some GREAT freebies together for YOU! Many authors have accepted the invitation to offer YOU encouragement and support over at Simple Journey Ministries. So I ahve been trying to put time into that schedule of events. Simple Journey Bookstore is about to have something REALLY GREAT happen! Oh it is going to be so good! (hint hint: free stuff!) So those have been keeping me busy too.
But just for kicks and giggles we thought a bit of extra chaos would be a super challenge for our family! So we have been looking at our calendars and schedules for the next 8 months or so. We have developed periodical check points that will help us make decisions when needed. I highly recommend this for all families! It is a great way to have a little pre-planning for some what ifs. Nothing too intricate, just something such as, if your family is away from home more than 4 days per week you will then need to decrease something else. Or if your business takes 20% or more time than previously, you will have to drop an activity to compensate. Priorities and realizing we are human and it is better to put your family first doing a few things with well than a lot of things mediocrely is very important. That said we have worked out our check point plan to help keep a perspective on family even with a full time job, a part time job, 2 businesses, writing, and homeschooling. When things get to a certain point, we have put in place options to choose from to keep our focus where God wants it, on our family.
Now, I have also been clearing my schedule to attend the Ultimate Homeschool Expo 2008. If you are interested in learning more click on any of the banners above. It IS THE best conference for homeschoolers!
So without further ado, let's read some great posts about living simply! Wahoo!

You will NOT want to miss this!
Posted in Thoughts Comments or Concerns
Tomorrow Phyllis Sather is presenting a seminar on her book Purposeful Planning. Wondering what this is all about. Read this description straight from Phyllis’s Book Shop:
“Does having your spouse’s undivided attention appeal to you? Planning weekends give you time to dream, to talk together about what you wish, or want, at a time when the other person is really listening.
Do you need a plan to keep your family moving in the direction the Lord is leading you? Perhaps you don’t know where the Lord is leading you. Phyllis takes you step-by-step through the process of planning a time together for your family to help determine the path the Lord is choosing for each area of your life. Her family has followed this format for over 12 years and has found that it provides the compass they’ve needed to plan and stay on course.“
Having done this plan, I can say that this description doesn’t nearly encompass the goodness involved in this plan. One of my favorite aspects was that it can be planned WITH children. The book recommends a weekend getaway. However when I received the book and we looked at our schedules, there was no way we could take time away. SO, we did it at home. Set up parameters for our kids and WOW! In 3 days Thomas and I spent 10 1/2 hours talking about our family! What made it flow so easily was Phyllis’s great layout of how to get a LOT discussed in minimal time. By starting each session with prayer, we knew the Lord would cover and bless our time. We agreed that the intentional planning for the year ahead was a key to us growing in God. We actually cannot remember the last time we spent so much time talking together…UNINTERRUPTED!
TOMORROW Phyllis will be speaking about this very plan! You DO NOT want to miss out! Think your husband won’t go for it? Me too. Thomas is a non reader. I asked him to spend the time to read the book. I never ask him to read, so he knew it must be something he should look at. Afterwards, he said we absolutely had to do this and we picked our dates!

Asking for a Little Prayer
Posted in Thoughts Comments or Concerns
Well, I am flat exhausted, but the website is going to be worth it! Later this evening I will post something pies, family fun, and the english muffin recipe.
Just wanted to ask all who read this within the next few hours for a small prayer. Littleton #3 has tryouts for his first real competitve hockey team today. we leave in about an hour. Unlike most current sports, this is a real tryout. There is a chance he will not make a team. Please pray for him to do his best, be satisfied with is best, regardless of the outcome. We have been talking about God's will in all this, and he seems to get it, but when the spotlight is on, he may not react appropriately. With that in mind, please pray for Thomas and I to be the parents God would have us be in this.
Thanks for your time and prayers! See ya later.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, while I continue to work. Please pray for me as I continue on this task.

Crazy on the stead!
Posted in Thoughts Comments or Concerns
There has been a little family chaos keeping me away from the puter. We had a lot of activities in the earlier part of the week. Then we needed to prepare for the stellar and most sought after social event of the season...Remember the Lyrics Slumber Party...hosted by my elderton dd. This really WAS a blast! Even I learned a new dance. Afterwards we spent the weekend preparing for this week, which will be our planning week.
The hubby and I had a desire to more intentionally seek God's plan for our family and make some check points to see how we are doing throughout the year. It is also a time for us to reconnect as a couple level...instead of being simply parents adn/or business partners. If you are interested in reading more about Purposeful Planning for your family, simply hop on over to the author, Phyllis Sather's, site, Phyllis-Sather.com. This is THE one book I would recommend for families wanting to achieve more of what God desires of them, in a real setting!
So this week, posts will probably shoot up at a variety of times throughout the day. Have no fear, though, they are ready for YOU! Also, I will be in need of one or two regular readers to help me with the new website soon. I need critics to use it and let me know what works, what doesn't, what they like, what they don't etc. If you are interested in doing so, please let me know.
Ok, now back to our originally scheduled program....
Crazy on the stead!

I think no one noticed. I was having an issue with my blog. I think in trying to re-vamp this little beauty, I maybe may have been ever so slightly over zealous in my efforts to use my new knowledge. Well, in short I messed something up with the calendar. No one noticed, but the Superbowl post actually read Feb 3, instead of the 4th. I think I have it fixed. If I score an A on this post, I will be able to put up the missing entries. Thanks for your patience!
