FREE Door & Car Mats
You probably have mats outside your doors and on the floor of your vehicle. These are handy for catching the dirt on the bottom of our shoes. But they wear out. Those outside door mats get faded by the sun and rain so easily.
A GREAT, FUN, and INEXPENSIVE way to replace these mats, while giving your children a fun activity, is to make them yourself. All you will need is carpet samples and fabric paint. You likely have fabric paints in your home. These are great for TONS of projects and last a long time, not to mention they are very inexpensive. Carpet samples can usually be gotten for free at carpet stores. Just go in and ask to speak with a manager. Ask if they have any old carpet samples that they are going to get rid of. Snag what you want and get ready for FUN!
Fabric paints are the best tool for this project because of the tip on the bottle. I tmakes for easy "drawing" on the mats and easy for each artist to include his.her signature. In addition, it is an excellent way for littletons to make a mat with a lot of control. Allow mats to dry 1 day before putting them to use.
Not only are these a really FUN and FREE project, but your kids will love having their art work displayed in various areas of the house. When placing mats in your vehicle, consider placing each artist's work at their normal seat. It's like placecards for cars! It's that simple.
These are my thoughts.
