Life at the Wood's

Posted in Unspecified
Greetings dear friends!

Oh, how I love each of you!!! You are all so precious and I thank the Lord at each remembrance of you! Thank you for all the sweet "checking in on us" notes and phone calls! The Wood family knows they are very loved by many of the Fathers people! Thank you for that!!!

I thought I would come and share more about the progress here on the Ranch, in our home as well as in our hearts. Please continue to keep us in your prayers as we continue to seek His direction for our lives.

1. The animals have all found loving homes except for the house cat. If you know someone that would be blessed by having an indoor/ outdoor cat that is already fixed then please let us know.

2. The property clean up is coming to a close. We have the "metal man" coming for one last load this Sunday. I have a trip to the thrift store to make some donations and Joe has a trip to the dump to make. We hope to wrap all this activity up by this weekend.  We have only the items remaining that we must take with us. We will both be pulling a trailer behind us. Joe has been busy fixing his trailer up and getting it registered. I will actually be pulling that one since he feels it will weigh less and not be as difficult for me. We will be buying a stock trailer from a neighbor and friend before we go that Joe will pull with all the heavy items. The Lord is working out each detail for us and there has truly been only great peace throughout this entire process!

3. The home is going into several papers this weekend. Our realtor has been encouraged by all the interest in this place that the Lord has given us however, my Joe says he will be encouraged when we finally have that offer and escrow closes. My Joe is a very " I'll believe it when I see it" type guy. I guess we are moving to the right state after all!! In fact, both he and my daddy are this way in nature and have been joking about moving to the "Show me" state.

4. We are filling our days with the duties we have left here. Most of the packing that can be done has been done. The rest of the items should wait until we are making the move- there really isn't much left. Joe and the children continue doing clean up to areas of the property and working with burn piles. Everything is coming together nicely. I do have a few garden beds I hope to weed today. I will see if that works into the schedule.

5. Joe did not leave for the new job yet. The employer called to postpone it until the American Axle strike is resolved. He continues to work at Foster Farms until the new employer is ready. Our hearts are steadfast and trusting in Him. We know He is a loving Father and only has our best in mind. Because of this delay, we see His mercy in allowing our family to remain together longer and we are encouraged!

6. We have decided to rent a home once we move to MO. We will be in Troy which is only 30 min. from where Joe will be working. We are unsure of how long this period would last, I would expect at least six months so we can get to know the area more and find the "right" place for our family. We were very encouraged by some of the larger ranches that we found last weekend and trust the Lord to lead us perfectly just like He lead us here!

7. I have been gathering doctor/ hospital records which has proven to be quite a challenge for our large family. We decided after hearing what the cost would be (almost 500 for all dental, vision and personal medical records!?!?!?!!!!) that we would wait till we find a new physician in Mo and have them all mailed for FREE! I am sure you can sense my frustration. I was quite appalled by their reasoning. They would charge the customer who has a legal "right" to their records and yet offer them for free to another doctor.

8. We are trying to finish up those last minute items before the "last minute" actually happens. My car had some repairs done that were needed before the long trip. It is so nice to have all those little gadgets working again- lights being the most important one! We still have a few other things my Joe wants to do to both of our vehicles yet, he feels we need to wait till the home sales and we aren't driving on these rough roads anymore. These roads have proven to take quite a toll on both of our cars.

9.The girls and I will be spending our "girls day" early this year with my momma! We normally do this each Fall however, with the move and changes in our lives we thought we should do it now. I am excited as each year has been a time to grow in the Lord together and encourage each other in the tasks the Father has set before us. This year we will be spending it at my parents home with my Daddy being our personal chef! I told him we would call the kitchen, "Papa's Bistro" for the weekend. Momma, myself and my girls will be attending the Women of Faith conference. We have never been to one before but it sounded like the perfect time for us this year. We even reserved our very own row of seats!! Too fun!

10. Talking about fun.... My Bekah girl wanted me to color my hair and cut it differently for the last few months. Since my birthday was last week her and my Joe decided to bless me with a Salon time as a gift. WHAT A TREAT! All of you that know me know that I DO NOT LIKE CHANGE! However, this hair cut and color I LOVE! I couldn't be happier with the style and color. Joe and the children love the changes as well. What a fun day I had!!

As you can see, we are busy and blessed! The Father remains faithful to His people and we are delighted to walk in His ways. We each continue to grow in His grace, learning daily how to work together as a family and a people that bring Him Honor. We have so far to go in so many ways dear friends and yet, He patiently works with us and molds us into something He alone can use. I best close the note for today. I will continue to pray for each of you- that His blessings will abound in your hearts and home all for His GLORY!

With much love,
Mrs. Joseph Wood

Sounds like your family is in for quite an adventure! God bless you and yours as you pick up and leave all you've ever known and begin a-new.

Isn't is wonderful that the Lord is the same ANYWHERE you go?!

I am so thrilled to hear about how you all are doing. Knowing that you are not alone in this sure does allow God's presence to be known. I am expecting many great things to come your way as you keep positive then more positive will come forth. You know it is a process of trusting Heavenly Father and with each step and day that comes we drawer nearer to knowing His plan. Thanks for the update. God hears and is pleased to do His will for His children who know His plans for them in the fullest. Jeremiah 29:11
He gives us hope and our future. Blessings and Love, rilda *U*

Welcome to Acres of Blessings also known as: AB-Ranch

My name is Jeanette Wood. I am the wife to my best friend, Joe and the mother to ten blessings. We have been home educating our children since birth- our oldest is 19 and our baby is 4. We have given birth to six children physically and four were born from our hearts through adoption. We are currently living on 40 acres up in the Sierras, near Yosemite National Park. The Lord has blessed us richly! We love to live simply and are filled with Thanks everyday for the good work He has begun in our lives. Grab yourself a cup of tea and enjoy reading the sometimes hillarious and other times heartbreaking activities here at AB-Ranch!

Funny Things My Children Have Said:

After several trips to the emergency room with my Timothy. I said, "Timothy, you really must stop hurting yourself like this. Each time we go through that hospital door it is costing Daddy 100.00!" He sweetly replied, "Is there another way we can get in Mommy?"

As Ezekiel and I poured over the garden magazines we ran across the brussel spouts. Ezekiel had never seen them before and with excitment said, "Momma, Look! They sell bite size lettuce!"

As we prepaired to vacume seal our newly butchered chickens. My Beth-Joy said, "Mom I know we want to seal our chickens but I can't figure out how we are going to get that chicken through that skinny slot!"

Rebekah was blessing me and cleaning out my pj drawer when she came across a new bra that I had purchased. In all seriousness she said, "Mom I just can't figure out why you would buy a bra thats only good for 18 hours!"

Jed was about five years old when he ran out to the kitchen and met me with excitement saying, "Mom I think God made my wife last night! I counted my ribs and now I am missing one!"

Matthew and Samuel were playing when the girls and I overheard them and couldn't help but giggle. Matthew wanted to play house and have a baby but Samuel informed him that, "You can't have a baby, Matthew- you're only a 2T"

While driving I often lose cell phone reception with my Joe. I never realized how much the little ones were listening until one day I overheard them say, "Mom and Dad broke up again!" "No Mommy broke up with Daddy" replied Matthew. "No! It was daddy. He broke up with Mommy again!" Replied Sammy. As I listend I thought it was a good thing no one was ease dropping into their coversation- they would think my Joe and I had a pretty rocky marriage! LOL

While on one of our "girls days" Bethany was having a hard time falling asleep. Grandma encouraged her to count sheep. After a few moments of slience we heard Beths sweat voice say, "Thump" We all thought about it for a moment and then Grandma asked, "Beth what was the thump about?" "Oh, one of my sheep ran into the fence.. that's all Grandma." We couldn't stop laughing for at least an hour.
