About Me

Greetings!
My name is Jeanette Wood. I am the wife to my best friend, Joe and the mother to ten blessings. We have been home educating our children since birth- our oldest is 19 and our baby is 4. We have given birth to six children physically and four were born from our hearts through adoption. We are currently living in Topeka Kansas- moving from our home state of CA on the first of July 2008. Moving is nothing new to the Wood family. We have moved 16 times in the last 17 years. We never know where this journey will take us yet we are confident that He has only good plans for us and we will follow wherever He leads! We love to live simply and are filled with Thanks everyday for the good work He has begun in our lives. Grab yourself a cup of tea and enjoy a visit with me while I allow you to peek into our hearts and home!

Monday news

Hello Friends!
If today is any indicator on how the rest of the week is going to be we all better buckle our seat belts and hold on tight! LOL

The fire has been resolved and the roads are open to the public again. I praise God for His faithfulness to us! However, we are still trying to clarify with the insurance company what they want done in order to reactivate our insurance. We had done everything they originally told us and now they decided the home has  to have a different roof and another railing has to be installed on the stairs. Keep in mind these are the same stairs and the same roof they approved last year. Dealing with things like this can be quite frustrating to me- it seems to take so much emotional energy! Thank you Cheryl for the name and email of your insurance agent, I sent an email to them today and hope to hear back quickly!

On the homeschool front, I am working on getting all my paperwork in order to file our affidavit. I have mentioned in past posts that the Lord is renewing our vision for our home education. We have always felt that our purpose for home education has been to grow and learn with our children to walk with them daily and teach them as we live out our faith. Yet, sometimes life seems to interrupt this process. For our home the Lord is reminding us of the freedom we have in Him. How His yoke is easy and His burden is light yet, in my foolishness I can make what should be a joy and a delight simply difficult! This year, I have recommitted myself to truly seek Him and His leading daily. I use to be so diligent about asking the Lord what math page to do or not do with each child daily. I know that He is the one that knit my baby in the womb. He knows exactly what to require from them each day. He will never require too little or too much. There is such freedom when I let go of all my own goals and desires and seek His!

On a different note, Bekah has her friends from out of state here with us and they are quite a joy! We have really had some good times with them. I pray that they can return home and feel blessed by their stay here with us. This year as been busy for the Wood family with guests. We don't normally have such a busy life. I know that sounds funny coming from a mommy of ten but truthfully, Joe and I monitor our activities closely and have found that our family does best when we have quiet schedules. Sometimes life doesn't allow as much as we would like however, the Lord is always faithful to lead us to those green pastures eventually. Friends did you ever notice that it is not in those green pastures that He anoints our heads with oil rather it is on the battlefield-it is in presence of our enemies? Retreating is not an option for the Christian Solider yet we are promised that He will bring us to those green pastures if we faint not in well doing. Oh how refreshing those times are, don't you agree? I know I enjoy when my pastures here on the ranch are green. They seem to call me to take long walks through them, smelling the freshness and hearing all the new sounds of life. I love green pastures both spiritual and physical! My heart seems to cry out for them and yet I take comfort in knowing that it is HE that anoints my head with oil in the presence of my enemies. If God be for me then who can be against me?!

The little ones are needing mommy to tuck them in bed. Sammy is so excited that his birthday is in two days he can't wait to go to sleep so it comes faster! What a Joy he is!!!

I'm so glad that the fire was controlled without coming too near! We smelled that fire, or another one (there was a very large hay fire somewhere in Tulare, I have heard) down here. We were swimming, and began to get stinging eyes from smoke!

I hope you have a blessed week! Thanks for reminding me of affidavit time approaching! I usually help a few newer hs'ers with that process.

Saturday, September 1, 2007 - fighting the faith

Posted by hcorbin
It seems that a lot of Christian families are fighting extra battles these days. We have been attacked in our finances, in our marriage, with the children, with work, with our home, and with our health. However, we are standing firm believing that GOD is and does what He says he will. Our paster has been continually reminding us at church to magnify God... put God under a magnifying glass and elevate God in our lives... don't ever put our challenges under the magnifying glass. Make God big and watch our challenges become small in comparison!!!!!!!!!
Praying for you all....Glad you were all safe in the fire. Don't get me started with insurance!!!!!
Have a great day!
Heather

Some Favorite Photos That My Bekah Girl Has Taken!

Funny Things My Children Have Said:

Timothy and Elisha were talking about all the contents of the Ark of the Covenant. When Elisha told Timothy that God had put the 10 commandments in it. Timothy replied with confidence, "Well he had too so that Moses wouldn't break them again!"

After several trips to the emergency room with my Timothy. I said, "Timothy, you really must stop hurting yourself like this. Each time we go through that hospital door it is costing Daddy 100.00!" He sweetly replied, "Is there another way we can get in Mommy?"

As Ezekiel and I poured over the garden magazines we ran across the brussel spouts. Ezekiel had never seen them before and with excitment said, "Momma, Look! They sell bite size lettuce!"

As we prepaired to vacume seal our newly butchered chickens. My Beth-Joy said, "Mom I know we want to seal our chickens but I can't figure out how we are going to get that chicken through that skinny slot!"

Rebekah was blessing me and cleaning out my pj drawer when she came across a new bra that I had purchased. In all seriousness she said, "Mom I just can't figure out why you would buy a bra thats only good for 18 hours!"

Jed was about five years old when he ran out to the kitchen and met me with excitement saying, "Mom I think God made my wife last night! I counted my ribs and now I am missing one!"

Matthew and Samuel were playing when the girls and I overheard them and couldn't help but giggle. Matthew wanted to play house and have a baby but Samuel informed him that, "You can't have a baby, Matthew- you're only a 2T"

While driving I often lose cell phone reception with my Joe. I never realized how much the little ones were listening until one day I overheard them say, "Mom and Dad broke up again!" "No Mommy broke up with Daddy" replied Matthew. "No! It was daddy. He broke up with Mommy again!" Replied Sammy. As I listend I thought it was a good thing no one was ease dropping into their coversation- they would think my Joe and I had a pretty rocky marriage! LOL

While on one of our "girls days" Bethany was having a hard time falling asleep. Grandma encouraged her to count sheep. After a few moments of slience we heard Beths sweat voice say, "Thump" We all thought about it for a moment and then Grandma asked, "Beth what was the thump about?" "Oh, one of my sheep ran into the fence.. that's all Grandma." We couldn't stop laughing for at least an hour.
