About Me

Greetings!
My name is Jeanette Wood. I am the wife to my best friend, Joe and the mother to ten blessings. We have been home educating our children since birth- our oldest is 20 and our baby is 5. We have given birth to six children physically and four were born from our hearts through adoption. We are currently living in Topeka Kansas- moving from our home state of CA on the first of July 2008. Moving is nothing new to the Wood family. We have moved 17 times in the last 17 years. We never know where this journey will take us yet we are confident that He has only good plans for us and we will follow wherever He leads! We love to live simply and are filled with Thanks everyday for the good work He has begun in our lives. Grab yourself a cup of tea and enjoy a visit with me while I allow you to peek into our hearts and home!

Picking Pears and preparing the Farm

Hello Friends!
The Wood family was richly blessed to join friends yesterday for a morning of picking pears. The children had a delightful time sharing with friends and eating yummy organic pears! I believe we came home with eight 10 gallon buckets full of pears that we will be processing today.  The wind made the morning air quite crisp so I enjoyed much time in the warm car, with all the babies from both families, handing out animal cookies.  After picking pears, we packed up the car and headed out to our new home for Joe to get some barn measurements and make a list of projects he wants to get started on. We stayed out there for hours enjoying a picnic as a family and sharing our thankfulness of all the Father is doing in our lives. He has done an amazing heart work in each of us- how blessed I am to be His child!

The children(yes! Joe and I included!) are excited as we look for and find the animals we need. We have our sheep picked out; we will be getting four bred Katahdin Ewes at the end of Nov. and then a Katahdin ram from another blood line come Spring. We have also found our goats. Kinder does that are bred and waiting for the results of their CAE test to come back. We hope to get the goats by  the middle of Dec. We have also found our farm dog again- Yippee! Bekah was blessed to find a Border Collie whose father is from Wales and a bloodline she had been hoping to get. We will be picking up "Bly" on the 19th of Nov. The woman selling him was in TX but has agreed to meet us half way- what a blessing!! In fact, all our animals are coming from far away places.... the sheep are the shortest drive, only an hour away however, the goats will be a five hour drive!  We will all be delighted once the animals start coming home! Oh, by the way... Timothy and I will be attending our first Bee meeting! This next monday there is a group of beekeepers meeting to share information about Winter management. Timothy is going to be floating on clouds- he loves bees and is eager to get his hives started here in KS.

I have some photos of picking pears and of our new puppy, Bly to share with you. I will post photos of the goats and sheep later. I have them on my computer but not in my photobucket, so I need to get them uploaded.

Until our next chat dear friends....

Myself with the Roberts sweet baby

Baby Japh picking pears too!

Sarah Grace and Mr. Roberts Picking Pears

Bekah and Ezekiel (Ezekiel was fighting a cold and you can see it is in his eyes yet he would never admit it! He was having way to much fun to sit in the car with momma and the babies)

Busy picking pears

Bly (a Blue Merle Tri colored Border Collie registered with ABCA- all these details were very important to Bekah and exactly what she was looking for as well as being from Wales)

Rebekah has been pouring over her books and DVD's! She is so excited to train another dog to work the farm. She loves everything about training dogs to work!

So glad I popped onto your blog this morning. Your children look like delightful souls. I am curious as to your many moves....much like myself in the first years of a marriage. Just wondering if your hubby is a church planter or military?
I would also love to hear more about your sheep. One of my dreams not yet attained is to keep sheep for wool. I am adding you to my friends list. Stop by my blog sometime.

Praise the Lord for all he is doing in your lives. Your children look beautiful and what a pretty dog. We need a farm dog but are waiting until one of our older dogs passes on.

Blessings,
Trixi

What a beautiful little puppy!! And from Wales.......that impresses me as that is my heritage.
That answers my questions about the animals you mentioned earlier. I am so glad all is falling into place for your family. Very exciting to watch the Lord work isn't it!

We went pear picking on Wednesday! Tis the season! We have to process ours too--I was thinking of making pear sauce--ever tried it? I canned 14 quarts of pears about two weeks ago and now I have another round. :) Such a lovely blessing! We didn't have ladders with us, so my older daughter and I had oodles of giggles as we "shook" the tree (gently) to get to the fruit! Where there is a will, there is a way!

Some Favorite Photos That My Bekah Girl Has Taken!

Funny Things My Children Have Said:

As Matthew approached his fifth birthday he seemed disappointed. When I questioned him he said, "Momma? Can't I please just skip five and be six?!" I replied, "No... you have to be five first. Why don't you want to be five?" After a pause and with a discouraged countenance Matthew said, "Because five is odd and I don't want to be odd Mommy!"

After all the children had their dentist visit Samuel began explaining how he had such good results. He said, "If you want to be like me all you have to do is only brush your teeth sometimes... the rest of the time... EAT THE TOOTHPASTE"

Bekah walked in while Matthew and I were working on his addition flashcards. She asked, "Matthew what are you doing?" "Doing my Plusing," He replied. I said, "You mean doing your addition" With confidence he turns to me and says, "Yes, that's it's middle name."

Bethany was helping Josiah look for beef cattle online when she came to me and said, "Momma, they had these really sad looking cattle that were super skinny called 'Commercial Cattle'. Momma that's all they would be good for - there wasn't enough meat on them for anything else." When I asked her more about what she meant it was clear she thought that these cows were used IN commercials for the T.V. All of us started laughing and kept giggling about it throughout the night everytime we thought about it again. My Beth is just too sweet!

Timothy and Elisha were talking about all the contents of the Ark of the Covenant. When Elisha told Timothy that God had put the 10 commandments in it. Timothy replied with confidence, "Well he had too so that Moses wouldn't break them again!"

After several trips to the emergency room with my Timothy. I said, "Timothy, you really must stop hurting yourself like this. Each time we go through that hospital door it is costing Daddy 100.00!" He sweetly replied, "Is there another way we can get in Mommy?"

As Ezekiel and I poured over the garden magazines we ran across the brussel spouts. Ezekiel had never seen them before and with excitment said, "Momma, Look! They sell bite size lettuce!"

As we prepaired to vacume seal our newly butchered chickens. My Beth-Joy said, "Mom I know we want to seal our chickens but I can't figure out how we are going to get that chicken through that skinny slot!"

Jed was about five years old when he ran out to the kitchen and met me with excitement saying, "Mom I think God made my wife last night! I counted my ribs and now I am missing one!"

Matthew and Samuel were playing when the girls and I overheard them and couldn't help but giggle. Matthew wanted to play house and have a baby but Samuel informed him that, "You can't have a baby, Matthew- you're only a 2T"

While driving I often lose cell phone reception with my Joe. I never realized how much the little ones were listening until one day I overheard them say, "Mom and Dad broke up again!" "No Mommy broke up with Daddy" replied Matthew. "No! It was daddy. He broke up with Mommy again!" Replied Sammy. As I listend I thought it was a good thing no one was ease dropping into their coversation- they would think my Joe and I had a pretty rocky marriage! LOL

While on one of our "girls days" Bethany was having a hard time falling asleep. Grandma encouraged her to count sheep. After a few moments of slience we heard Beths sweat voice say, "Thump" We all thought about it for a moment and then Grandma asked, "Beth what was the thump about?" "Oh, one of my sheep ran into the fence.. that's all Grandma." We couldn't stop laughing for at least an hour.
