Sunday, May 11, 2008Happy Mother's DayHappy Mother's Day to all you moms out there. I spent Saturday judging a gymnastics meet, and got home to corned beef and rice. It was awesome to be able to leave instructions for the kids, leave early morning, and come home to followed instructions! I don't think my kids know how much they were appreciated just for the fact that I didn't have to figure out what to feed everyone at 9 pm. Hubby got home WAAY earlier than I did, of course. I'm not sure what he did, but I'll figure that out tomorrow. I will go through my seeds, and decide what we are doing tomorrow. I know I want to get this garden in the ground, and hope that the weather will cooperate. The goats are doing fine, and we haven't lost anymore chickens since we surrounded the chicken yard with the goat yard. Strider (the new LGD) is very good at announcing things that seem out of the ordinary to him. He's about 4 months old, and has only been here a week, so he hasn't learned yet, that dark time means the 2 legged pack leaders are out and about. My secret wish for Mother's Day: a completely clean kitchen. I cook, he cleans. That's the deal. Unfortunately, he hasn't been holding up that end of the stick lately, and my kitchen is in terrible condition. Hopefully, the kids will get the floor washed as well. I'd like at least ONE room in the house to look like someone actually LIVES here, not just eats dinner and sleeps here. THAT issue may be changing shortly, as we can not continue to pay the current amount we are paying for gymnastics, put gas in the car, pay the mortgage and other bills and actually feed the children. Something has to go. Unfortunately, the children seem to think that feeding them on a regular basis, multiple times per day is a priority. Which means, we all need to make hard choices. \ I'm for bed, and everyone, have a good day tomorrow. | 0 comments | | Link Friday, May 9, 2008Mother's Day Weekend PlansSo far, my garden contains the peas I planted a few weeks ago, and some lettuce. Lots of garlic was planted last fall, and a few shallots...Those are all doing well. I'm guilting my family into planting on Sunday as my mother's day gift. Not sure what we'll get done yet, but I'll definitely post what happens. We have 2 hens, thanks to certain predators around the farm. One of them went broody. Sheesh. No rooster is available. Our goats are eating, eating, and not doing anything else. | 1 comments | | Link |
