• Thursday, April 24, 2008 - Friendship and Thankfulness

Posted in Friendship

My dear friend Connie made lunch for me today.  I had been out to Curves and then had a few errands to run including getting DS's skates sharpened, going to the bank, a stop at Wal-Mart, etc.  Nothing exciting at all!  Connie called me on my cell phone and asked if I had time to pop by for lunch and coffee.  Now, isn't that sweet of her?????

What a treat!  Lunch was YUMMY - tuna & cucumber sandwiches along with her special spinach and strawberry salad (mmmmmmm!!!) and a lemon muffin for dessert along with a nice, hot cup of coffee!!!!  We've both been busy with life over the past 3 weeks or so as we had the flu run through our house.  Seems like forever since we've seen each other - it hasnt' been, but it feels that way as we were seeing each other every day for a while.

Can't even imagine life without you, dear .... my world travelling companion (BIG inside joke there!)!!    So nice to see you again!  Thanks for the yummy lunch and sweet visit!  I'm so thankful that God brought you into my life - pretty amazing when you consider the different places we've come from!  Thank you, Lord!

Don't forget to enter my bloggy giveaway for the draw that will take place on May 1st.  Don't forget to mention my giveaway on your blog - that's the only condition of entry.  Good luck to everyone!

Blessings

• Friday, October 19, 2007 - Can I Brag?

Posted in Friendship

OK, so I need to brag a bit here....  My dearest friend has a post on her blog that is so thought-provoking, and has made me think so much about the kind of people we are, that I just have to share it.  Connie has so much love for the Lord, her hubby and her children (all SIX of them!!! ), and yet she still has lots to share with others.  I am so blessed to have to have her as my friend and Christian mentor!  Heck, we've even been to Africa and back together - and what a trip it was!!

Please check out her blog.  You'll be glad you did!

Blessings to all!  Happy Friday!

• Sunday, August 19, 2007 - Flying Across the Country

Posted in Friendship

Well, dd and I will be jetting across Canada on Wednesday to attend my "sister's" daughter's wedding.  I am so looking forward to seeing the family again.  This is the same family I wrote about two postings ago titled "Difficult Anniversary".  It is going to be an awesome visit - I can hardly wait.  I just love weddings, but cry at  every one.    I have lots of preparations to make in the meantime, so my computer time is going to be cut.  I've been spending way too much time on here anyways.

Dh and ds are in Calgary right now.  Ds is trying out for a hockey team that will be playing in Europe in the spring of '08.  Even though he's my son and he's only 11, he is a darn good goalie!  I may be a bit biased, but he is VERY good.  Hopefully it will not go to his head and he will continue to do his very best and enjoy this gift that God has blessed him with.

Please pray for the children in Liberia.  They are being attacked by the devil and there is much suffering as a result.

Have a great week!  Many blessings to each and every one of you.

• Wednesday, June 13, 2007 - Books!

Posted in Friendship

I have ordered the following books this week:

"Where Elephants Fight" by William Ardill, MD., and "Tears of the Rain" by Ruth Ann Stelfox.

I'm looking forward to reading them both when they arrive.  Boy, shipping is so expensive when you buy books that are not locally available!

I'm also currently reading "Found", a novel by Christian author Karen Kingsbury.  It's a gripping story and I recommend it highly.  I'm only about 3/4 of the way through it and find it hard to put down.  Kingsbury has a wonderful writing style that keeps you riveted to your seat!

I'm not really much of a reader, normally.  I usually don't have the time but I'm starting to make time.

Speaking of Christian authors, I must brag about a dear friend of mine.  She has written 3 books recently and I'm very proud of her!  Her pen name is Donna Dawson (her real name?  I'll never tell!!)    Her titles are as follows:

"Redeemed" , "The Adam & Eve Project" and "Thriving in the Home School" and the not-yet-released "Vengeance".  I have read Redeemed and I read it in one sitting - I just couldn't put it down!  For some great reading, check out these books - you won't be disappointed!  Also, you can see her blog here!

I saw an excellent quote this morning, and it's just so true and we must never forget it ... "It is never comfortable on the Cross" Hudson Taylor.

Have a wonderful and blessed day!

• Thursday, June 7, 2007 - Difficult Times, Friendship and the Stanley Cup!

Posted in Friendship

It's been a while since I posted.  The clouds have continued to plague me and it's been a difficult stretch to say the least.  I haven't wanted to blog for fear of spreading the fog.    Fellow depression sufferers will know exactly what I mean.  There is a lot contributing to my situation, so the low spots really do come and go.

On a brighter note, the kitchen cabinets will be started a week from Monday - the 18th of June.  I'm looking forward to that.  My kitchen has been a shambles for two moths now.  It's hard to live like this.  I still have some tiny areas of wallpaper to remove, and then we have to putty and sand.  The painters will be coming after the cabinets are finished as the fellow is going away.

On friendship, I must mention my dear friend, Connie.  She is there for me through thick and thin, good times and bad.  Don't quite know what I'd do without her - thank God that she's in my life.  Funny thing, too - I'm SURE that God has arranged our friendship - that makes it even more special!!!     Love ya' dear - and THANK YOU for being there!!

Oh, and the Anaheim Ducks won the Stanley Cup last night.  Great team, but I was hoping that we could have the Cup come back to Canada with the Ottawa Senators.  It was not to be.  The Ducks were the better team in this series, so they did deserve to win.  I'm also glad that Brian Burke (VP/GM of the Ducks) was able to taste a win as he was the GM of our hockey club, the Vancouver Canucks for many years and never registered a win.  He was let go two years ago (wrongly, in my opinion) so it's a bittersweet victory in a way, I guess.  Congratulations Ducks!!

I must go now and do some laundry.  Oh, joy!

Have a great day - hopefully I'll be back to myself soon and can post more regularly and positively again.
