Thanks everyone for your nice comments on the bread recipe. There were a couple questions so I thought I would just post and take care of them all at one time.
First of all the yeast packets I believe were about 1/4 of an ounce (someone correct me if I'm wrong because I threw the packets out and I found this number on the internet). Not sure how many tsp that would be but I don't think it has to be right on the dot.
Trina as far as the rising in the middle one of mine did and one of mine didn't. For me I think it was because I forgot to warm up the flour in the second batch and that's the one that didn't fluff in the middle. Could have been something else but that's the only thing I did different so...........I didn't think that was such an important step but I could tell a noticeable difference in the loaves so I will make sure I remember to do it next time. Glad you are enjoying your bread. It's really good warmed up with butter and honey mmmmmmmm.
My hubby gave me a good compliment today. When I told him a few days ago that I was going to start making our own bread he said "what kind" he's hooked on white bread and I really want to switch back to wheat. I told him "whole wheat" and he said hmmmmmm can you make white? I told him maybe I would make half and half for awhile until he got used to it. He agreed that would be a good idea. Then today he had some with some butter and honey on it and said "wow that's really good". I am hopeful now that if I make it they will eat it and actually like it! Need to make some more tomorrow if I can find some time. Oh well, I will just have to make time huh? Well back to my paper, I'm almost done! |
