New Old Sewing Box

Posted in Daily Life

I'm tickled pink I've wanted a wooden concertina sewing box for such a long time. So when one came up on Trade me as BUY Now and in RIMU I got it.
It has been soo well looked after - I wonder who was the owner before hand - all I know from seller is it came from Dunedin.

It looks such a nice piece of furniture next to my Granny rocking chair in our 1900 villa.

PL:US I got my new camera yesterday - it really is feeling like a birthday week from the postie. I haven't had a good play with camera - but Abbey set it all up for me - I didn't even know how to get out the memory card out this am - I had to wait for her to get up HAHA. BUT I can write on my photos.

I want to play taking photos of our birds in our garden for Scattered Seeds  the new camera has an awesome zoom on it so I hope to share some NZ birds that visit our garden - coming next week we will have paddocks of ducks as Saturday Duck shooting begins. (Something I wish to do before I die - Have to see if a friend will take me - not sure how I will actually go when I shoot one & kill it - probably cry) But a friend goes shooting & he is bringing me home a few ducks so I have to learn to pluck them oh MY I am going out of my comfort zone.

And I also  got my certificate for first part of my Vet Nursing degree - I wanted to see how I went studying - It has triggered me thinking mmm maybe I will pick up something - I'm just a bit worried about getting over committed - my home. animals & home schooling the kids is my first priority BUT.....

It is never too late to become what you might of been

A warm welcome to our families daily blog. "Living The Good Life"

We are a family of four & I’m the luckiest girl I know! Married to my best friend for over 21 years, raising two wonderful children on our 3 acre farmlet in New Zealand.

I was a Bank Manager in previous life (before kids) and now a kept women - home schooling our two kids. Brent is a Service Projects Manager and brings home the bacon for the family.

We got "off the bus" ie away from continual comsumption & accumulation of material goods & find much joy in living a simple life.

I enjoy writing & sharing views on living a simple life, menu planning, living on one income in a two income world, home schooling, dyslexia, severe food allergies, raising coloured sheep, goats & hens, quilting, reading, cooking, gardening and of course cats.

"It is the sweet, simple things of life which are the real ones after all.”

The best things in life are nearest: Breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of right just before you. Then do not grasp at the stars, but do life's plain, common work as it comes, certain that daily duties and daily bread are the sweetest things in life.
~ Robert Louis Stevenson
