School Holidays

Posted in Daily Life

Week one is nearly over - it has gone fast & I have found I am busier than school time. This is mainly due to James' social life - he loves people & I 've been his personal taxi taking him to all his friends homes. Each home when I drop him off I stay & have a coffee with the mum - Which is nice - but I've spent a lot of my time this week playing ladies.

We have been doing school each morning - Jame about 1 hour - Abbey about 2 - feels good as if over the winter we have BLAH days I know I will relax knowing we have kept schooling through the holidays.

I did make the time to help Abbey begin her pillow she is making - she was a brick & cleaned the bathroom for me while I did it. She has sewed her blocks together & now has to trace her design and she is all set to begin embroidery.

Some days - weeks we do need to remember the BIG picture - the kids aren't gonna remember if our house wasn't dusted - but they will remember the we have spent time with them....
So if you visit my home today - shut your eyes at the dust & clutter - I've been busy with the kids.

My home tells the story! - It needs a real good pick me up - and I hope to get more done today.

I have a much tidier house now that my three children have left home, but I don't regret for one minute that I spent more time with them, than I did cleaning, while they were growing up. The years go by too fast!

A warm welcome to our families daily blog. "Living The Good Life"

We are a family of four & I’m the luckiest girl I know! Married to my best friend for over 21 years, raising two wonderful children on our 3 acre farmlet in New Zealand.

I was a Bank Manager in previous life (before kids) and now a kept women - home schooling our two kids. Brent is a Service Projects Manager and brings home the bacon for the family.

We got "off the bus" ie away from continual comsumption & accumulation of material goods & find much joy in living a simple life.

I enjoy writing & sharing views on living a simple life, menu planning, living on one income in a two income world, home schooling, dyslexia, severe food allergies, raising coloured sheep, goats & hens, quilting, reading, cooking, gardening and of course cats.

"It is the sweet, simple things of life which are the real ones after all.”
Laura Ingalls Wilder

The best things in life are nearest: Breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of right just before you. Then do not grasp at the stars, but do life's plain, common work as it comes, certain that daily duties and daily bread are the sweetest things in life.
~ Robert Louis Stevenson
