Here is previous post o how to make the ginger beer bugAfter 7 days you are ready to make the ginger beer.
4 lemons
2 cups sugar
5 cups boiling water
14 or 15 cups cold water.
Place the juice of the lemons in a large bowl (We use the preserving pan) add sugar & 5 cups of hot water. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Add the cold water – 14- 15 cups. Stir well.
Using muslin – or a clean cotton tea towel as we do – strain the juice of the bug into the bowl.
Using clean bottles – bottle the ginger beer.
As you can see it is a lot of fun to make! -
But don’t cap it for 2 hours & do not stand the bottles on a cold floor.
Begin bug again
Divide the sediment left over from bug juice (in clean tea towel or muslin) into 2 parts. & put in clean jar of bottle with airlock add a cup of water to each jar/bottle. The bug is ready to be fed again.
Give one to a friend or like I am going to try today as per Bean Sprout Blogger she make it into muffins – I’m going to try today into Ginger Beer Bread – will let you know how it goes.
I about 2-4 weeks you can crack your brew – chill before hand & enjoy!
