I buy in bulk beef mince for our pets at a good discount – it works out to $3.80kg.
Brent has always trained our dogs not to eat raw meat mainly so they are at least risk of eating anything someone may of poisoned. Years ago when we had Dobermans – we had a neighbour that really didn’t like them – so Brent trained the dogs never to eat raw meat & we have just always done it.
Sorry about quality of pictures I have an OLD digital
A kilo of meat & any vegetables that are looking a bit limp from fridge or excess from the garden get chopped up – I cook any vegetable except onion & peas – we haven’t had a dog that ever liked peas & they end up flicked about – maybe peas are too hard to eat with a tongue???
Tonight’s cook up has pumpkin, carrots (our dogs have all loved pumpkin & carrots) kumara, potato, cauliflower, broccoli stalks some asparagus (what a waste bad me! I should of cooked this not let it go limp in fridge)
Cover with water – a bit of salt & slow boil. It doesn’t smell that nice cooking so hope like mad you don’t get visitors – I have doors open & cook it when Brent not home as he really doesn’t like the smell – or cook in crock pot which I often do & put in car shed to cook overnight.
I give it a gentle mash with potato masher - Store in containers & when cool place in fridge – I am lucky we have two fridges –one for us humans & one for animals in car shed.
Thought you might like to see Mack the Mastiff getting all excited
Brent also always trains the dogs to wait for food & never to eat unless a command is given – the drools & shakes of obedience always happens,
Proof the Mack does like my cooking
Cost of cookup $3.90 the veges were surplus so the chooks would of got – a good way to clean out fridge or excess garden pickings.
