Sunday 21st July
man it rained and it rained this weekend. I soo need to get some outside time - being cooped up inside doesn't make me a happy chappy. It's meant to be fine today so will get the beds stripped & washed & I hope to begin pruning roses if I can sneak some time. - School holidays have finished so back to the books - I could do with another week since really we had not fun holidays with all of us being sick - but........

It was a wonderful sight on way to cattery - with all the rain we have our very own pond. Goosie was having a lovely time floating in it. I wish I had my camera - but I have to be fast to snap animals - as soon as they see you they come running. We are feeding them out as not much grass - these lamb chops will be expensive with having to buy in their food. We didn't get some in the pot before the ram came & then well it was too late - so we have more sheep than we would normally keep over winter. Lambing begins early August - my best time of the year is seeing new lambs in the paddock.

I was a good girl & cleaned up all my mess I had made from moving bookshelves - Annette popped in & saved me so had a nice cuppa with her. Karen & Brent later after they had been 4 wheel driving - so not me - I'm the only girl out of the crowd that doesn't find getting mud thrown at you while driving fun. Just as well Brent has James who loves that sort of thing. But our cruiser won't do the tracks the others do so - I have a feeling a new one is on the plans.

James got confirmation all can come to his birthday party - long story but he wasn't mean to have anything flash for his party as he got an amp - but he is taking 5 friends to see the new Batman movie plus Abbey, James, Brent & I. PLUS 3 homeschool friends, plus possibly James who will be over here from OZ. That's 13 to see Batman. But only 5 for tea plus our family - that's all we can fit in the two cars. So will meet the rest at the movies & they will just sit with us.

Abbey is busy planning her party - she is thinking of having a Host a Murder party. - 1920's style one - yep July & August are birthday months here - quite fun as breaks up winter a bit - especially how we also have in June mid winters feast. Something each month to look forward to.

Have a good week.

Hi there Leanne,

hasn't this winter been wet and miserable? Hope that all the birthday preparations go well and that the kids have a great time.

Cheers,
Cate

A warm welcome to our families daily blog. "Living The Good Life"

We are a family of four & I’m the luckiest girl I know! Married to my best friend for over 21 years, raising two wonderful children on our 3 acre farmlet in New Zealand.

I was a Bank Manager in previous life (before kids) and now a kept women - home schooling our two kids. Brent is a Service Projects Manager and brings home the bacon for the family.

We got "off the bus" ie away from continual comsumption & accumulation of material goods & find much joy in living a simple life.

I enjoy writing & sharing views on living a simple life, menu planning, living on one income in a two income world, home schooling, dyslexia, severe food allergies, raising coloured sheep, goats & hens, quilting, reading, cooking, gardening and of course cats.

"It is the sweet, simple things of life which are the real ones after all.”

The best things in life are nearest: Breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of right just before you. Then do not grasp at the stars, but do life's plain, common work as it comes, certain that daily duties and daily bread are the sweetest things in life.
~ Robert Louis Stevenson
