Busy, busy, busy
Week one of school holidays have gone - zip! James has come down with another cold & I am fighting a chest infection - man we have been sickly this winter.

I've 16 kittens so that is keeping me pretty busy, especially when we had a piddler in the bed (cat bed that is not human bed) - quite a task to get washing washed & dried. I don't have a dryer & don't care for one. I'm home so able to move washing around & hang it in front  of fire to dry. A quick iron takes the last bit of dampness out.

I enjoyed teen watching while waiting for the kids to come out of the movies with their friends the other day. So many teens hanging out at the mall. It was funny watching some very forward girls tell boys they thought they were hot. mmm girls are quite forward these days - man I am feeling I seem to be getting old..... Many of the teens had lots of cash - eg $20.00 notes on them & they were just spending it on junk & slot machines.

I came away very thankful that I am a stay at home mum able to drop off & pick up our kids & that we are living a frugal lifestyle - sure will not be a shock to our kids when they leave home & enter the real world of how far money goes.

After a year of much needing a new computer we have one. I ordered it last Friday off Dell & it was here Wednesday. Kids are very pleased how grunty it is. They have been having fun playing Sims - something they haven't been able to for like I said over 1 year. I must share what excellent service we had from Dell I highly recommend them!!!!

I had my first ever shortest job period in my life - my joining caused a bit of a storm - 3 other staff spoke up that if there was any other hours they felt they should be offered it first - fair enough so I'm back to being a kept women - doesn't really bother me. I found it funny that after phone conversation I had been offered personally another job via email as a mystery shopper - so I am back being employed again - too funny. A good example to kids of life and how you react to it. I could of got all grumpy to boss - but instead I actually found it really funny - I can imagine the headache it caused him - staff issues can take up a lot of ones time as a manager. I must admit my first thought was oooh I might fine time to quilt now, giggle!

Sadly i NZ news has been news of a TV person who beat up his partner causing her back to be broken - he paid her $100K to keep quite. - But it is all over the news & police are looking into it (good job) NZ Tui Beer have some excellent marketing staff & have made up billboards link here to view
Well done TUI!

A warm welcome to our families daily blog. "Living The Good Life"

We are a family of four & I’m the luckiest girl I know! Married to my best friend for over 21 years, raising two wonderful children on our 3 acre farmlet in New Zealand.

I was a Bank Manager in previous life (before kids) and now a kept women - home schooling our two kids. Brent is a Service Projects Manager and brings home the bacon for the family.

We got "off the bus" ie away from continual comsumption & accumulation of material goods & find much joy in living a simple life.

I enjoy writing & sharing views on living a simple life, menu planning, living on one income in a two income world, home schooling, dyslexia, severe food allergies, raising coloured sheep, goats & hens, quilting, reading, cooking, gardening and of course cats.

"It is the sweet, simple things of life which are the real ones after all.”

The best things in life are nearest: Breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of right just before you. Then do not grasp at the stars, but do life's plain, common work as it comes, certain that daily duties and daily bread are the sweetest things in life.
~ Robert Louis Stevenson
