I have been diagnosed with insulin resistance and PCOS. This makes it difficult to lose weight, but I am
trying my best to get healthy again. Unfortunately, I am also gluten intolerant and have allergies to several
other foods - tomatoes and peppers. I hope that 2009 is FINALLY the year that I get healthy.
You can read my plans for healthier living in this post.
My eating plan will be from
The Insulin Resistance Diet book. It will include no added sugar and a focus on whole foods. I have a sugar addiction
so this will be tough at first! Other books that I will be following include
The 3-Hour Diet, the Superfoods books and
The 12 Best Foods Cookbook.
Starting weight: 1/4/09 - 161.6 lbs.

... owning my own business ...
I was reading a blog last night after returning home from my women's retreat and it was so neat to hear the excitement that this woman has about a dream of hers. You really should head over and check out the house that she has found - it is absolutely darling! I have often thought of owning my own business. At one point, I wanted to open a homeschooling consignment store. An acquaintance of mine did just that and enjoyed it. I just don't have the initiative it takes to get things like this started. So, I've decided that I'd like to own my own franchise ... the perfect one would be a large bookstore like Barnes & Noble or Borders. We don't have a good bookstore in my town and we have several colleges nearby. I think it would make a great addition to our town. Maybe I'll look into it someday ...
I am happily married to my high school sweetheart, mom to two wonderful kids, a Christian and I work from home part-time for The Old Schoolhouse Magazine. Please join me here "at home with Kris."
5:30am - up and exercise 6:00am - get kids up 7:30am - kids to school 8-9am - errands/homekeeping 9-Noon - work Noon - Lunch/homekeeping 1-2:30pm - finish up work, if needed
The afternoons vary depending upon our evening schedules, but they are generally spent helping the kids with their homework, exercising several afternoons a week,
getting dinner ready, homekeeping, etc.
6pm - dinner & clean kitchen 7pm - final email check for work
The rest of the evening is spent straightening the house for the next day, finishing up homework with the kids, and relaxing by the TV or with a good book!
I need to make some time for my hobbies, but I'm really enjoying reading books right now!
Housekeeping :: Schedule::
I use the Motivated Moms Planner for my
daily schedule. My children have weekend chores which really helps me a LOT! I do laundry as it fills the sorter and straighten the house every morning
and evening.
:: Exercise Plan ::
My basic plan is 30 minutes of cardio daily and strength training 4 days weekly. I also hope to do yoga 1-2 times weekly.
... Our Garden ...
Below is a list of books that I will be using to plan our garden for this spring and also using
to preserve and can our harvest.
