... REVIEW: CrispyClean® Bacon Broiler ...

I was sent a microwave bacon cooker to review and I have to say that, overall, I think it's a great product. Our family doesn't eat a lot of bacon and part of that is because I just don't like cooking it! If I cook it in a skillet, it spatters everywhere. We recently tried cooking it in the oven using a method that one of my husband's co-workers told him about, but both times we ended up with burnt bacon ... even had to throw a batch out once! And the clean-up for this method left a lot to be desired. I love a good BLT sandwich sometimes so I knew that we just wouldn't quit cooking bacon!

 This is a NEW invention and is the only totally enclosed product currently available. I have to say that the clean-up is almost nil and I love that! The first time I used it, it was a bit confusing. There is a very detailed instruction sheet included and I recommend that you take the time to read it thoroughly - that was part of my problem the first time I used it. I had just sorta skimmed the directions. Note that this item can only cook PORK bacon.

There are 3 pieces to the microwave bacon cooker. The bottom "cup," the bacon separator rack and the lid/handle. You just separate the three pieces, load the separator rack with up to 6 slices of bacon, attach the lid to it and then place the bacon into the cup. Lock it and microwave!  The directions say, "Set 1000 watt oven at max power. Try 30 sec/strip for 22 strips/lb. (meaning the thinner cut bacon) or 45 sec/strip for 11 strips/lb. bacon (meaning the thick-cut bacon)." The first batch I cooked in 4 minutes straight and it was too long all at one time (I hadn't read the directions closely - duh!) - the bacon seemed a bit too dry although my daughter LOVED it that way and she does NOT like bacon! For the 2nd time, I cooked the bacon for 3 minutes (6 strips at 30 sec each per directions), but we had to cook it for another minute - recheck - and then another minute.   Of course, your cooking time will depend upon the wattage of your microwave and how cooked you like your bacon, too. My husband likes it totally crispy!

Clean-up is a snap. You can either store the bacon grease in the cup to use for cooking - just snap on the lid/handle. However, YOU MUST EMPTY IT BEFORE cooking another batch of bacon!! You can wash the 3 pieces in the dishwasher, too. I don't cook with bacon grease, so I just let it cool and then pour into the trash can. This is a small product and won't take up much storage space on a shelf. There is a Limited Warranty on defects for 90 days from delivery date. There is also a money-back guarantee if returned within 30 days from delivery date (to include the S&H) or within 60 days (S&H NOT reimbursed).

I will not go back to cooking my bacon any other way ... this has turned out to be a great product for my family! My daughter who does not like bacon now says that she'll eat it if I cook it in the microwave bacon cooker!

We do not microwave our bacon. It never seems to turn out right like in a cast iron pan. Thanks for sharing anyhow!
Have a blessed weekend.

:: Getting Healthy ::

I have been diagnosed with insulin resistance and PCOS. This makes it difficult to lose weight, but I am trying my best to get healthy again. I am back to walking and weight training, beginning in September. I hope to add in some yoga soon as well - I've never tried it, but have always wanted to! I am currently seeing a chiropractor and massage therapist regularly to try and get my back realigned properly again, too.

My current eating plan is focused on eating gluten-free foods "from the original garden." I believe that I have food sensitivities and am trying to figure out which items set off the symptoms (rash, upset stomach, etc.).

I attend a Lutheran church and am active in many ways. My husband and I lead the youth group. I am a member of the Fellowship & Recreation and the Mutual Ministries committees.
